Re: Spyderco flippers

Bottom line is that they support their brand. If you're unhappy they will ultimately make it right. That is a sign of a good company run by people who care about what is going on.

Re: Can this be done with a Delica?

Beautiful engraving on that delica... If this were my knife I would try to find someone who can use a second delica as a donor for the blade/lock assembly (they are matched parts). I would then have the pins drilled, you only have to clear the top of the pin, and replaced with screws/backspacer for ...

Re: Lubing Detent Balls and Tracks

I'm a big fan of VERY lightly lubing the detent ball, then giving a little blast of air when it gets dry. That's enough to move some lube into the detent ball path

Re: It’s not the FRN, it’s the pattern

Another option would be trying to find an older delica/endura or older salt. They use the "volcano" pattern on the scales that is much friendlier to pockets. I really like the old pattern on my pacific salt

Re: Southard Question

It does not have a steel lockbar insert and in my opinion doesn't need one. There are really no reports of lock stick or problems. My personal opinion is that lockbar inserts are overrated. They really started out as a way to get around requiring super precise tolerances. Now they have this ...

Re: Spyderco Support on Defective Flippers

However, I am not here to sell you or anyone else an upgrade kit. I have far more interest in discussing the hows, whys, and details of what exactly is going on.

So, to end this very long post, I will say this. If you are TRULY concerned, I do have a third-party upgrade kit that includes a set ...

Re: How did you discover Spyderco?

Wow, I guess technically my first spyderco experience was as a very young child. One of our neighbors was the "knife sharpening guy". I saw his kit, I was too interested in his daughter to really know what it was, but in hindsight he had a spyderco sharpmaker.

My first "real" knife was a spyderco ...

Re: Spyderco Support on Defective Flippers

Wrathhog; I want to start this by saying I very much agree with Sal's motto of trying to leave shiny footprints. This is a fairly complicated problem that has MANY variables at play. Most people have had no problems with their knives under normal use. Spyderco has a lot of things going on, and this ...
