Re: What is this on the new Spydiechef lock bar?

I've read through this post twice now. Wow. First off, I own a couple of the early Natives, and one of the first steel clip Enduras. There's been a few fixed blades in there as well. I grew up carrying several traditional pocket knives, and was taught that that knife may very well close on your hand...

Re: Hard truths and observations

Hey Sal, Working on a Sunday? ;) But when you run a business, I know sometimes its difficult to close the office door, even for a few hours on a Sunday. Thank you for another very insightful reply.....yes, the world has certainly changed. It's a Brave New World...global politics, markets, and profit...

Re: Hard truths and observations

I've patiently read through all 9 (so far) pages of this thread. I've currently own Spyderco Knives since the early 90's. Excellent products. Excellent Customer service. I think Eli Chaps comment about Spyderco being the Blue Collar working man's folder is bang on. The key words are "used to be...

Re: Is your interest in sharpening on the same level as your interest in knives?

Strictly freehand. Was taught the basics by a friend a long, long time ago on a small Norton combination stone and its surprising how fast some of it comes back. Using coarse to medium bench stones, I was finishing an edge on one of the Henckels from the kitchen....and where is that blood coming fro...

Re: Really bad cut.

All the above advice regarding medical treatment and stitches is excellent. Xacto Knife Blades are used extensively where I used to work, and they are as sharp as a scalpel. I've successfully used "butterfly" tapes to temporarily stitch a wound to control bleeding, wrap in gauze, and trans...

Re: Why doesn't Persistence get a better treatment ?

Better for any company having several products in several price points. This covers a larger customer base. Most car manufacturers have the exact same philosophy and sell more cars than the companies that have only high end products that sell in lesser numbers. Don't forget that 80% of the worlds p...

Re: Why doesn't Persistence get a better treatment ?

I've made threads about this in the past. It seems to me that people are unable to separate the value aspect of these models, and are just unwilling to spend more even for better materials. It's as if the design itself is seen as inferior and not worthy of upgrades if it means higher cost. Personal...

Re: Why doesn't Persistence get a better treatment ?

To add to my comments above....if the marketing department wishes to move the customer to a higher price point item, then the benefits of the upgraded knife need to be addressed and the customer made aware of those, all the while keeping in mind the customers' budget. Sometimes, budget is a large fa...

Late to the party......however......
Small but elegant Red Maple Leaf countersunk on one or both sides of Black G10 scales.
Add say ......a 3" - 3 1/2" blade.
Steel?
Leave that to Sal.....
I'm not a steel expert by any stretch.

And yes,

Re: The Six Plus Two

Two Natives and two Tenaciouses (sp?) seems like a huge commitment to two models! Great photos btw. Thank you for the kind words regarding the photo. I like the Native a lot, feels great in my hand. The Native SE was my first Spyderco years ago. Based solely on that, I obtained the PE version as we...
