Re: Military 2

Bummer about them getting rid of the liner lock. I'll be getting one, preferably a blacked out dlc one.

Re: Benchmade Crooked River folder?...

I have the Crooked River and have for a few years. I enjoy it, though I don't like the pakkawood. At least the ones I got. But it's a good one. Wish it was hollow ground.

I'm boring: S30v, M4, A2, Hap40, CTS XHP.
I use 1095 like it's my absolute favorite though haha.

Re: What do you think of the US Army going to the Sig XM5 6.8x51?

I'm just wondering why they didn't adapt the M4 for the new round. Perhaps with the gas system, it isn't as easy as re-chambering. I really have no idea. Seems more economical to adapt a proven design. As for the ammunition, I like the specs. I'll be happy to get to try it once it becomes more civil...

Re: New Kershaw knives

Those two mid locks do look good. I was also curious why they didn't go with US production on them.

Re: Seki City models disappointing

The only catastrophic issues on Spyderco knives has been from Golden models (two had defective locks from the box---which they replaced when I sent to warranty, mind you). My Seki models have always been fine. Maybe F&F isn't incredible always but they're not extreme prices, either.

I might go for the Spyderhawk, though I'd go for it in an color scheme. I regret trading mine from the last sprint run. More all black Seki models would be appreciated.

Re: 2,000-Year-Old Roman Dagger

When I visited The House of Seven Gables in Massachusetts, I recall the rooms were small and cramped, and the furnishings, utensils, and everything in it, were tiny. The tour guide said that back in the Colonial days, the average person was much smaller, due to the nutrition back then, etc. My gran...

Re: Rounded Out Steel Collection

Murphjd25's comment about Delta 4v reminded me: I'd try to save a bit and try out custom heat treated steel. A steel you've known and used as a production heat treated product. I've had custom heat treated 3v and compared to mass produced, it had a big difference. Even steels like D2. $40 pocket kni...

Re: Tool steel bolsters

I think a knife with color case hardened handles or bolsters would be nice. Like what you find on some of the old revolvers and lever guns. Kiwi or otherwise. Color case hardened handles and a Damascus blade for the doubly the swirly. I have no idea if it must be carbon steel or if it can be stainle...

Re: Which knives should I check out?

Check out a Benchmade Claymore. They might seem cheesy, but they're a very light weight frn auto with a good sized blade, very snappy auto action, and the treatment in the CPM D2 on mine is really good. I'd also recommend checking out Lionsteel's fixed blades. Idk if I'd personally choose one over a...
