Re: Province edge angle

I wouldn't reprofile the edge out of the box to 18. If you're going to take the time to do that, might as well go lower and then microbevel it. But the factory edge probably isn't bad. I agree with Sal, use it until dull and then sharpen it. 4v should hold a good edge (I have 3v and it does great) a...

Re: Knives I wish I had bought two of

Two Slsyz Bowies. One to beat up and one to keep nice. Now I have one that can't be either lol.

I need to get a Spydiechef before those go away. I'd sure hate if something happens with mine.

Re: Knife opened in my pocket.

My clipped tip up advocate somehow opened in my pocket the other week. Somehow did not cut myself but it sliced through the stitching of the top of my jean'd pocket when I pulled it out without looking. Felt lucky. I blame the Advocate's soft detent but am still surprised it opened because the spine...

I agree on removing the jimping. My backlock manix feels much better. Would be even better if it had contoured scales.

I kinda like small caliber lever actions. My dad has a brass Henry in .357 mag. So fun to shoot.

I'm a big Marlin fan though. Would love to get a collection going.

Re: New 30-30 in the house!! ;)

I have shot more deer with a Winchester 94 in 30-30 than with anything else. All with iron sights as mine is an older top eject model. The perfect deer rifle for dense woods in my opinion. That Marlin should serve you well. I will be picking up an 1894C soon. I like the 1894C more than the 336. Has...

Re: Damascus Chaparral

Damasteel for sure. Has Spyderco ever even used Damasteel? Seems odd if they haven't. Stonewashed and Polished ti with Damasteel blade would be a win. Or polished black micarta/g10 with Damasteel would also be nice.

Edit: they did use RWL 34 made by Damasteel.

Re: New 30-30 in the house!! ;)

30-30s are so much fun. I'd love one of their custom shop rifles. Right now I'm ogling at their 1895 Trapper model in 45-70. Oh man, I handled those awhile back and really wanted it. https://www.marlinfirearms.com/lever-action/model-1895-big-bore/model-1895-trapper Holy Cow, that Case Colored 336 i...

Re: What "Other" is in your pocket???

Just got this but it is sooo nice. Detent is strong as an ox, lock up strong as a bulldozer, blade is very sharp for a factory edge. And it just looks sick. https://i.postimg.cc/wBmbRZX2/20190909-124410-HDR.jpg I've been tempted but I haven't given in yet. Nice color too. Really like the grind on t...

Re: Who wants a Delica Wharncliffe with ZDP189 and BRG?

 Would prefer superblue or cruwear but I'd probably buy the zdp 189. Small wharncliffes and high edge retention go together perfectly. Also, example of how ZDP 189 isn't bad to sharpen. I gifted my zdp endura to a friend who runs a coffee shop, has a very large garden, and does wood /furniture...

Re: Is weak detente a warranty issue?

While this was said earlier, anyone looking to adjust the detent hole should be careful. Detent slop from over-zealous hole-widening is annoying. My Spydiechef came with a bit of it and I almost sent it back. Even with the slop I can fling the blade out with a wrist shake. It isn't the worst detent ...

City Combo: either Spydiechef and a ~3.5" traditional or Chaparral lw and my drop point g10 Microtech Ultratech. But, Like Vivi said, I carry what I want. I live in Tulsa. Most people don't care and neither do I. Spydiechef plus GEC gunstock jack have been my main summer carries besides the fixed bl...

Re: Lanyard tube rattle in Taichung models

I've removed the lanyard tube from both my Spydiechef and Advocate because of rattle. A $200+ knife that rattles like a maraca seems cheap. Shouldn't have to jerryrig a fix with superglue on a knife that costs that much. But, removing the tube doesn't detract from aesthetics really, so no big deal.
