Re: I don't want all compression locks switched to buttons but...
to me it looks like a solution in search of a problem.
it doesn't fix the one issue I have with comp locks (detent vs self closing bias), but introduces a new potential issue (easier to accidentally unlock).
Have you specifically had issues with causing the Sage 6 to close accidentally or ...

Re: I don't want all compression locks switched to buttons but...
I do think we will see some popular models released with a button lock version to see the market reaction.
I think there would be a positive response from the 10% of Spyderco users who are left handed. Even if I was right handed, I prefer a knife that can be operated in either hand. God gave ...

Re: Fairly comprehensive list of Spyderos in movies, tv shows, etc
This is a great list, but you only have one episode listed for the 2007-2008 show Life and the Spyderco Police easily appeared in over half the show's episodes.

Re: Specifically, what does Spyderco do to fix stripped clip screw holes?
Liner replacement is the most likely fix for a normal situation. But, since you're dealing with a sprint run, I'm not sure if they'll have the parts. Most manufacturers do carry some stock of parts for discontinued or rare models for some time after they're out of production, but it's a crap shoot ...

Re: Smaller Manix 2 please
Here is a Manix 2 modified in more ways than one, but I did resize it to fit more of a medium size role. Some find the Manix 2 ‘a little big’ for pocket carry, and while it does nothing to decrease height, it does seem to get sort of shave off that ‘a little big’ feel the Manix had, while keeping ...

I don't want all compression locks switched to buttons but...
...I do want the Bodacious to be switched to a button compression lock.
Also, would a change like this ever be done as a CQI change or would it necessitate a whole new model designation (e.g. Bodacious 2)? I know for the Sage series it required a new version (5 vs 6), but the Sages specifically ...

Re: What is your all time favorite steel?
I know this is a boring answer, but probably S30V (although S90V almost edges it out). I really like that it was one of (if not the) very first steels invented specifically for knives. I also really love M390, 20CV, and MagnaCut but they haven't been strong enough to kick S30V out of the top spot. I ...

It can vary quite a bit. Some models come very soon after being announced and some take considerably longer.

I, too, wish for a CBBL Sage at some point.Actinolite wrote: ↑Fri Jan 17, 2025 11:13 amI think the Sage 6 will be great, and I’m looking forward to it.
But I am a little disappointed that it won’t be hosting Spyderco’s excellent ball-bearing lock, at least not yet. Maybe the Sage 7?

Re: Sage 6, WHO'S EXCITED
The CF/S90V might just dethrone my Mordax for pocket time.
So much more to love over the Smock: real CF, S90V, useable Spyder hole and full flat grind!
Is the Sage 6 on bearings, I don’t own any Sage’s yet?
I doubt the Sage 6 will be on bearings, but it's possible. I'd think that they'd ...

Re: Reveal 17 - LIVE!
I'm very psyched for the Sage 6. Ever since other brands starting releasing their "button liner locks" and "top liner locks" I've been wishing my Sage 5 had a button compression lock. Glad to see this coming!

Re: Does the sage 5 have a new identity?
I think the Sage 5 Lightweight was the gateway to the Sage becoming more than it was initially envisioned to be. I, personally, like the compression/Sage 5 more than the lockback/Native 5, so it's been exciting to see it getting all the new steels. Personally, judging by some of the trade show ...

Re: VG-10 Stretch 2
I really liked the drop point blade of the original Stretch. On the 2, I think the straight spine suits it better. It's a subtle difference compared to the Stretch 1, but the drop point on the 2 is a bit overly bulbous to me, if that makes any sense.
That absolutely makes sense. I have an ...

Re: Spyder Folks, convince me on the Endela.
I'm not the one to convince you. I have an Endela, but like you, I prefer the Endura. Mostly because the Endura blade is not as wide across as my Endela. Going one step further, I prefer the Stretch or Stretch 2 to the Endela for a more medium sized Spydie lockback.

I've been here since the early days as well although I've never been the active contributor that so many are. The Deacon was an icon. We are fewer without him. As a young man in my mid-20s, he helped me discover that computer programming was the career field for me. I'll never forget him.

Re: Folding knife for food or use in restaurants
A friend of mine who just retired after 25 years of active service in the US Army uses his pocket knife to cut food at restaurants (I do too, but this story is about him). The first time he did this with his wife, she commented on it and his reply was, "I'm in the eff-ing Army."

Anybody else out there wish the VG-10 Stretch 2 had the "straight spine" that the K390 and the XL have?

Re: Where are the Chaparral steels?
I would definitely buy a larger Chap Lightweight in any steel/color combo Spyderco offered. Navy blue FRN and 20CV would be top tier though.
