Re: C-60 Ayoob model: It's Way Past Time For An Upgrade
I would be all over any Ayoob reboot or just reissue... One of my all time favorites. Hey great to see you again "markg" :) I knew a thread on the C-60 Ayoob might just have a few of the old school Spyderville folks come out of the woodwork :D I wonder where our friend "Mark Greenman...

Re: Space Corps knife??
What chores and functions might this space knife have to perform? sal For an EVA knife you'd want something with a serrated edge to cut through the beta cloth used pretty much everywhere exposed to space (a fireproof glass fiber cloth that can resist the UV and atomic oxygen present at orbital alti...

Re: Space Corps knife??
I spent a few years working on Extravehicular Activity (EVA) hardware (spacewalk stuff) at Johnson Space Center, including the period after the Columbia accident. We didn't fly shuttles for a few years after that, and all our US spacesuits on orbit were taken offline due to the lack of maintenance p...

Re: VTOKU Sprint Run
Over the years my Emerson Endura has probably had more pocket time than anything in my rotation other than the Caly3. So thin, light, and fast out of the pocket with the Emerson opener and the FRN texture. It's also a bit of a study in compromise, with the saber grind giving it a strong piercing tip...

Re: Is it just me... ?
I started with backlocks in the 80s and then chased the locking system fads for a couple of decades (I'm an engineer, and enjoy the mechanisms). A couple of years ago I tried carrying a different blade locking system every day to work, and ended up going over a month before a lock was duplicated. Th...

Re: Name a Spyderco knife you thought you would like but REALLY LOVED once you bought it.
Police 4 K390 (back in my pocket after trying the M4 manix 2 much of the week). Honorable mention: Endura wave - I knew the saber grind would be poor at breaking down boxes or slicing food, but the wave, light weight, and slim feel in the pocket (front to back and thickness) won me over years ago. U...

Re: Sal's Casual Bombshell Thread
A locking UK is a Caly 3. Certainly not an impossibility at this time. The Caly 3 sprint in an improvement. We've got a Caly 3.5 FRN model on the drawing board. sal  :spyder:  :spyder:  ^^^ Linerless G10 Caly 3.5? ^^^ This is epic news Indeed epic. Count me in!! FRN Caly 3.5 would be...

Re: How did you discover Spyderco?
The worker in the attached photo was actually my second, I had lost the first about a year earlier. Back in 1990, $64 for a pocket knife seemed crazy, but after trying a few 'cheaper alternatives', I gave up and bought this one. Little did I realize how much money I would spend on those goofy lookin...

Re: Police K390...yea it's freaking awesome.
No patina yet (my blades usually stay lightly oiled to keep tape and cardboard residue from sticking), but I am enjoying my P4 immensly. It's surpisingly ellegant in hand. The thin profile and deep carry have even allowed it to sneek into (and for now dominate) my office carry rotation, which is nor...

Re: How have you preferences changed over the years?
It’s hard to overstate just how big an impact the original Spyderco models had on my knife preferences . It was truly revolutionary. I carried my first stainless ‘worker’ model in the 80’s until I lost it, then replaced it with another (for an outlandish $75 at the time). Since then I’ve gone throug...
