Re: Help needed in steel choice: PM2 CruWear vs Rex 45 vs Maxamet
I’m getting much better wear resistance with Rex45 then I am with M4. Which M4? Spyderco CPM M4? I haven't spend enough time with Rex45, but if it's substantially better than my M4 Spyderco's I should definitely make the time to get it into my pocket more often. Yeah I have a Para 2 in M4, and a mi...

I’m getting much better wear resistance with Rex45 then I am with M4. Have never used Cruwear, but heard good things about it.

Re: CPM REX 45 | Edge Performance
Following up on my previous post. I took my REX45 PM2 to the 400 grit stock EP stone last night, and I was having to refresh the surface of the stone even more frequently than with the 220. I noticed it would stop cutting before the stone was even loaded up. I think this was due to glazing over rat...

Re: Is this edge wear normal?
My S90v Military gets really really small chips, so small that I need a 15x lupe to see them, and I can barely feel them with slicing paper or running my fingernail over the edge . My first sharpening were with Shapton glass, 320, 500 and stroppping with BRKT black and green compound I could get a g...

Re: "The one"
S90v Military KW exclusive. Titanium and carbon fiber with S90v, in a folder that isn’t custom....huh!!! The knife industry has come a long way. And Spyderco imho is at the top. Nothing out there for me that has same materials, performance in the same price bracket..My Striders, CRK Sebenza 21 and 2...

Re: Sharpening and Shapton Glass Stones
I’ve moved on to diamonds (CKTG) on the edge pro. I used Shapton glass on steels like s30v, 20cv, and all sorts of carbon steels, no problem, but on S90v, 320 Shapton glass was like rubbing glass on glass, left a much more polished edge , much more then say 400 diamond which leaves the edge like a c...

Re: I don't like the way this forum discusses corrosion resistance
I’ve never had much problem with corrosion , only really showing up on a SnG that was made of PD1 and a bead blasted s30v (SMF), and I was sweating pretty bad (110 degree days) and both knives were saturated in sweat and eventually showed some light rust spots. I’ve done the same with s30v with DLC ...

Re: Which PM2?: S30V/S35VN or S110V or M390
I like s30v, especially how spyderco heat treats it. Tough , easy to sharpen, rust resistant and takes and holds a good edge . Only time I’ve seen S30v chip was on my very own military. I loaned it to a pretty girl (mistake) who used it to cut zip ties with a cement backing ...Oooof, but sharpened t...

Re: Why do you carry a knife?
I voted other, because my job basically requires me to carry a knife . I always need to cut stuff wether that’s for work or at home. I am constantly cutting food up for my animals or breaking down boxes, or prepping dinner for the family. I own zero safe queens, every single blade I own (about a doz...
