Re: Spyderco Ulu?

Absolutely agree that performance is primary. And as a knife, the ULU is a tool. It can also be aesthetic.

Re: Tonight I Wore Through a Sharpmaker

I've not worn my Sharpmaker anywhere near that much (yet) but it does raise questions of how to fix and prevent. First, I've worked a lot with broken, cut plastic in a past life and wonder if you could "fill" in the exposed area with a superglue, glue, reinforced fill or epoxy to build it...

Re: Which knife for my wife?

I also prefer green. I wonder if the first answer to your question would come from Cuscadi? I ask because generally scale makers specialize on certain knives, usually because they have built designs into CNC type of machines. The second question would be about your local laws, import possibilities a...

1.) Heavy duty corrosion resistant Kitchen Scissors that can cut through packaging, meat & small bone and separate into 2 pieces for cleaning and sharpening. and 2.) A pocket Pry bar from a from a really tough steel that is not so brittle that it will snap and not so soft that it will yield/bend...

Re: Kitchen knife nerds- why basic carbons?

All of my Japanese slicers (razers) are SG2/R2. Anything that gets near a bone such as a Honesuki is a good blue/white carbon. I also have a full rack of Traditional/Spyderco kitchen knives and a 1 1/2lb full tang carbon Cleaver. Just like EDC, I think it is good to have a full range of steels, size...

Re: Spyderco Nightstick - Neck Knife?

It's been a long time since I have thrown knives so I won't be trying that for you. I do find it to be well balanced and the signature scales which provide great indexing are a plus. I would consider weight however. On my scale the knife alone is 3.9 oz (which may be a plus for heft) and with the in...

Re: Your New Knife Ritual

I have accumulated a lot of knives over the years so I got a digital picture frame for my desk that changes pictures every few minutes and put a picture of each of my knives in the rotation. So my first thing is to take pictures for ID (if lost/stolen) then load the best picture of the knife into th...

Nicely done. The maple is beautiful and the design to accomodate the slots/knives is perfect. Great motivation to go and get the Carters.

Re: A long-winded tale of how 2 orange-and-black Militaries came to be

Great adaptation/conversion. Nicely done. I've not had the courage to try a scale change with one of my Millies but your final product is encouraging. Congrats also on snagging a BG-42. Nice to see one in the wild and definitely a grail for me, as is the ATS-34. I think another point of your project...

If I’m not mistaken I think you can find the maxamet para3 but I haven’t really looked lately. Show me, cause I don't think so... I got one from Knives Ship Free a few months back and just looked, still says: "IN STOCK & READY TO SHIP Current Stock: SALE PRICE: $206.50" Here is a link...

Re: Wharncliffe flipper

I've been waffling on a Smock. It has a nice long nearly flat profiled edge, though hollow ground. And it has an approach to the Compression lock that intrigues me as I have difficulty managing them from the top. Plus that reverse tanto kind of a tip looks like it can perform a lot of precise cuttin...

Re: Mcbee after carry?

I have to agree with "secondary", but so are all the other (3-6) knives I have at any given time. The McBee has found a spot in on of my cargo pockets and rides there unnoticed until I need it. Also agree it's best fit is with detailed, controlled cutting, not for slicing up a 2" Ribe...

Thanks JuPaul/Julia for the tip. I ordered from your link earlier this afternoon and just now got the confirmation. This one would have slipped past me had you not posted. Nice Save!
