Re: Rare Knife?

It’s cool to have such a rare knife but man do I hate that thing. Looks ugly and impractical, better send it to me for proper disposal either way.

Re: Para 3 Blade Play Question

You know something, I used to stress about blade play. I'd have my knives fall shut but have slight side to side play. I spent hours trying to find the balance, but on some, I never could. Then when I bought my first Spyderco's, a PM 2 and a Para 3, guess what, yup still some blade play. I found if...

Re: Para 3 Blade Play Question

TL;DR All folding knives have some level of blade play. I have 3 spydies. Native 5 lightweight, zero play up down side to side. Manix 2 XL, zero vertical play, very minor side to side but only if I really try. Para 3... where do I start with the para 3? My Para 3 came set up for right hand tip up ca...

Re: Para 3 Blade Play Question

Can we just all admit that virtually every folding knife has some amount of blade play? Even when locked. My para 3 does and I’ve even tightened it too much to fall shut and I could still feel some side to side wiggle.

Re: Native 5 Switches from S35VN to S30V

(especially when so many Chinese OEMs are using S35VN now, even on less-expensive models). They certainly stamp that on them but I never believe that. I'm even skeptical when they say they're using sandvik. Call me jaded but I don't have much faith in their honesty and I think if they thought they ...

Re: Native 5 Switches from S35VN to S30V

You don't have to go back very far in time to find posts here so happy that a model is coming out with S30V steel. Dude I remember when Grayman knives was putting out s30v folders and spyderco was doing sprints in s30v and everybody was crapping their pants for this new super steel. I always find i...

Re: Native 5 Switches from S35VN to S30V

Well pardon me in advance for what might be a less than well received opinion but I'm going to have to call b.s. on a few of you guys. I'm far from a steel snob but it's my understanding that S35VN was held in higher regard than S30V by the majority of us. The steel change doesn't bother me at all a...

Re: Para 3

I have the exact same problem on the para 3. I had to decide between blade play with drop shut, or tight as **** with no play. I went with no play and am hoping it'll break in more.

Fellow Canadian here. I can't believe what they're doing to us nowadays, we used to be the guys the good knife laws.... Anywho, imo Manix > Para 2/3, though I must admit thats partially because I'm a lefty.

Re: Para 3 problem. Are my clip screws rubbing the blade?

So, doesn't this have screws on both sides of the pivot? Can't tighten down the clip side and assemble from the other side and adjust the pivot from the opposite side? Oh is that how it works? Pardon my ignorance, I'm really a fixed blade guy. I just thought that since one side turns and the other ...

Re: Para 3 problem. Are my clip screws rubbing the blade?

I cut a zip tie with my para 3 and I carry tip down. It developed blade play immediately after the zip tie cut. Took me forever to re adjust since I would have to keep removing the clip, adjusting then it would feel right. I’d replace the clip and then it was too tight and wouldn’t free fall. I sti...

Re: Para 3 problem. Are my clip screws rubbing the blade?

For anyone following along, I just referred to the shabazz para 3 disassembly and it appears that the pivot is not reversible. Bummer.

Re: Para 3 problem. Are my clip screws rubbing the blade?

The screws are probably twisting/binding the liner just enough to effect the pivot clearances. First I would get the clip where you want it, put a SMALL amount of blue Loctite on the clip screws and be careful not to over tighten them. I say small amount because it's easy to overdo it and get Locti...

It's never been disassembled, just adjusted the pivot tension, and clip position.

Re: Para 3 problem. Are my clip screws rubbing the blade?

After further pondering I think I may understand better. The screws aren't rubbing but the tension of the clip is pulling the liner over and changing the action. Any one have an answer if I could flip around the pivot? I suspect not but worth an ask.
