Re: Lil' Temp 3 & Short Thick Blades

To me, the handle is the star of the show. It fills the hand so well, no doubt in part to the thick blade stick. It is one of the most comfortable Spyderco I’ve held, and it turned me on to the handle forward designs. As for day-to-day cutting I don’t find the blade to be a detriment. I might feel d...

Re: Building a Custom Knife for Sal: CPM S60V

Shawn,

Was the micrograph for S60V done on Sal’s knife, i.e. was it dome pre-heat treat? If so, I thought the heat treating process changed the microstructure. I’ve heard expression like “grain size” and “grain growth” with regards to heat treat.

Too many good ones to select just a single representative.

I think the Swayback has the best looks. Unfortunately it doesn’t fit my hand.

Even some S35 like the Tenacious family would probably go over well here.

Re: Forum Update/Maintenance & Move - PLEASE READ

Nice that the forum is online again! But I'm unhappy that all the contributions can only be read against a gray background (alternately lighter or darker). Although it looks stylish, it is difficult and hindering when reading and understanding the meaning of the text (there is a lack of contrast). ...

These updates look really user-friendly. The new design is familiar yet modern. Great job on the update.

Re: Spyderco 50th Anniversary Knife?

I think the 50th anniversary should commemorate a special edition SharpMaker; being as Spyderco, "First made things sharp, before making sharp things". The more I think about it, the more I like this. Commemorative knives have been done before. To my (incomplete) knowledge, a SharpMaker h...

Re: Spyderco 50th Anniversary Knife?

Spyderco's 50th founding anniversary is only two years away, in 2026… This is a fun conversation, thanks for bringing it up. I have no idea if two years is enough time to get this hypothetical knife ready for market, but maybe it just might happen. As for some sort of graphic denoting 50 years, I’d...

Re: Cricket Lightweight

Sal, when you say “twist” are you talking about the pressure from the lock on the opposing axle? If so, what makes the Parar3 LW avoid this issue? Is it simply that a liner lock is not a comp lock? Is the FRN material? Something else?

Re: C-60 Ayoob Campaign: No I Won't Shut Up

Yeah, I thought the same thing. I considered making some scales after doing some for a Delica. But the thinness gives me pause. I’d work with wood as opposed to micaeta or G10. I bet some new scales would look good though.

This video explains the basic process in simple way, start here... Would you say that plateau sharpening is harder than raising a burr? I feel like a burr is definitive proof that you have reached the apex--or gone too far according to some. I like the feedback, even though it is wasteful. I really...

Love the Advocate! Still need to get my hands on one.

Very underrated knife. I went to the factory outlet some years back. I planned on putting my mitts on every knife they had. But when it came to the CQI Advocate, I had a hard time putting it down.

Re: Different knife different day, or one knife for life?

There is a certain part of me that likes the idea of having that "one knife" that you carry day-in and day-out. The scales get worn in ways unique to you, which gives your knife character. I find the stories here about knives that have been a constant companion for 10+ years to be really i...

Re: Does anyone have any pictures from the Spyderco booth at the 2024 Shot Show?

In the past, retailers like Knife Center have done a good job at taking video at several of the booths. I would expect the same this year. Not sure how long it takes to edit and post the videos to YouTube however.

Re: Delica 4 in 2024?

What are the chances of a magnacut Delica sprint? Serious question, what's the timeline? I doubt we'd see one this year, but who knows about after that. I have no specific information about why it wouldn't happen this year. These things just take longer than many of us expect. I would say the odds ...

Oh man, that sucks. I recently took mine apart for the first time. I didn't expect them to use barrel standoffs. I happen to like that design. If you have the means of measuring the one you still have, maybe there is a matching one on this site? https://www.knifekits.com/vcom/knife-making-parts-stan...
