Re: Spydie emoji

For the truly nerdy among us, here is a podcast that talks about getting approval for emoji.

This model, I think, is the best looking one to come out of the Amsterdam meet.

Re: Sal, Can we get CPM 15v?

Geometry Limits of 15v... It's amazing that all of these measurements are (for the most part) thinner than your average production knife. And at the upper ends of the spectrum, the description of 15v at high HRC is pretty much devoid of anything special. That description sounds like you could be ta...

Re: FRN vs G10 vs Wood: Strengths and Weaknesses in each for Spyderco Knife Handles?

Sal briefly talked about the issues they face with woods: I vote for wood, but not the stabilized plywood you often see on Spydercos and Benchmades. How about curly birch, snake wood, ironwood, etc.? I'm sure that will be a big boost to the price, so it may not be a smart decision. Still, a Chap ver...

Sage 2, but I'm not sure about the other one. I know I want a larger blade though.

Re: Native Chief first and ongoing impressions thread

The best thing I hear about the Stretch is the comfort in hand. How does the Chief compare?

Re: Native Chief first and ongoing impressions thread

How this is sharper out of the box than an Ikuchi and slices nicer is a mystery to me and is starting to make me love Gasp  S30V I recently watched this video (mostly to confirm my love of the Sage 2). I was surprised to see that the Sage 2 is thinner (BTE) than most other Spydercos (I think t...

Re: Native Chief first and ongoing impressions thread

I never noticed how much smaller the finger choil is on the PM2 than on the Native series. I never found my PM2 to be uncomfortable. How do they compare?

Re: Have recent releases confused you?

I feel the Smock proves you wrong. A second batch came and went as quickly as the first, and popularity was known. Compare that to the Chinook 4 or other regular production collaborations, that came and were there to stay. I suspect the distribution/stock strategy changed together with the reveal i...

Re: Have recent releases confused you?

If one has a huge cost and investment in design, tooling and machine costs holding back on production of popular products would indeed be a poor way of recapturing investment. Sal, Eric, et. al. cannot accurately anticipate user demand. Spending lots of money to introduce a new model AND then stock...

Re: Have recent releases confused you?

Not to mention the constant calling, and checking the internet to see if a model does actually become available, also makes the whole program that much more frustrating... So the new app is supposed to have notifications when new models drop. I wonder if something could be done to notify OpFocus pr...

Re: Have recent releases confused you?

Well, I have to assume that each production facility has the standard Spyderco knives (the ones that keep the company financially afloat) that must be made. So dealer exclusives and sprint runs are balanced with the production of knives that are purchased in high quantities. Does Spyderco outright o...

Brand new to iPhone. Just downloaded and took screenshot but have no idea how to upload. Re: Spyderco Mobile IOS App - Giveaway!

EDIT: In a previous thread, there were some concerns about the app needing to know your location to warn you about taking your knives to the airport (called Heads-UP). On first launch, the app asked for permission to send me notifications. I said yes. Then I checked the settings. By granting permiss...

Re: What did you use your Spyderco for last?

Probably doesn't count, but every so often I thin out the primary grind of my Sage 2 (even when the edge is still sharp). I don't spend super long on it, just a little bit here and there.

Re: Native Chief Use

I'm interested to see what sprint these will be run in first if they sell well enough to warrant one. I haven't ordered a Chief yet because I just bought a few Pacific Salt back-ups, but whenever I buy one I can make a video. Bugs the hell out of me that most "knife review" videos are fifteen minut...

Re: The Spyderco Earth- a knife made from 100% recycled materials

French knife maker Roland Lannier does all kinds of interesting things with making his own micarta. He recently did a run of knives using Lucha libre masks. He has also used records from some of his favorite artists, comic book pages, concrete (looks better than it sounds), etc. I'd be interested in...
