Re: First time you saw a Sypderco?

Went looking online for a serrated knife because serrated knives are epic, and also I knew I liked knives but really wasn't feeling the Benchmade my Dad had bought me a few years back. Read lots of reviews, discovered Spyderco, decided on the full-serrated blackout lightweight Native, traded the Ben...

Re: Shaman mini-skinny chop

After seeing the awesomeness of this and that other knife you did the mini-skinny chop to, I need to get an extra Amalgam and send it to you :D I've been wanting a sheepsfoot Amalgam so bad, and this would be a way to sort-of get one.

Re: What Spyderco is in your pocket today??

After buying a few Spydercos last year I find that I mostly carry the PM2 S35VN and the Endura SE Wharncliffe depending on what I am doing. During the rainy winter working outdoors I was often carrying my Pacific Salt SE. I have a PM3 S35VN but the blade seems too stubby. The PM2 feels like the per...

Re: Spyderco Photo of the Week Contest!

:D Thank you! Congrats JuPaul, I really like the green light reflected on the blade and the tree trunk. For my submission this week I'm using another photo from the same session as my last photo. I'm very happy with the way the dramatic shadow makes a second line of teeth on the wall behind the Resc...

Re: Let's get hyped for the Amalgam!

I'd like one with DLC blade and hardware, and light gray scales, like that Manix sprint that was floating around for a while. Or translucent natural G10 scales with a DLC blade. Or DLC with marbled carbon fiber. ...If they make any variant of this in DLC I will buy it. While I'm on a roll wishing fo...

Re: Post Pics of your Favorite PAIR of Spydercos!

Finally have a good pic of the pair that's replaced the Natives I posted above as my favorites. https://i.imgur.com/UWYKu4j.jpg https://i.imgur.com/WLmT0cQ.jpg And my current favorites. The Rescue is the same as the one in the previous photo, the Amalgam is new. Both knives were released 20 years a...

Re: Sprints

I love Sprint Runs, Flash Batches, dealer Exclusives, all those limited-edition fancy knives. It's so cool to see the different colors, blade shapes and coatings, steel types... I remember before the Native came in a black-coated plainedge variant, I bought the black-and-orange Exclusive and swapped...

Re: Tucson, Arizona

I can second the recommendation for Blade Runner Knives -- awesome place, awesome owners, able to order knives for you if they don't have them in stock, bought several Spydies from them. Don't remember what they carry in the way of kitchen knives because I never pay attention to kitchen knives anywa...

Re: New to the knife scene

Hello and welcome to the knife scene! :) eBay is a bit iffy when it comes to the more popular models -- there are fake Polices and Enduras on there, for example (made in China with low-quality steel and unauthorized by Spyderco). But AFAIK no one bothers to clone the sprint runs (usually), so you sh...

I would also like to thank the mods for running this great place and hosting the yearly calendar contest. :) And Sal for paying attention to it and commenting here as often as he does, and answering questions about knives sometimes. And all of you guys for the knowledge and pretty photos you share. ...

Re: What happened to the flat-ground Rescue?

They're out already Then why are they not listed on Spyderco's website along with their other stock  I'm pretty sure they didn't change the model number so sites might not know exactly which version they have. If you want one you might have to call and check if it's the saber ground or FF...

What happened to the flat-ground Rescue?

At one point, I could've sworn there was a flat-ground Rescue featured in a "coming soon" entry on Spyderco's official site, and also it's listed in this page in a Spyderco official magazine. I can no longer find the entry for it on Spyderco's website. Did it get canceled or something? Am I just ima...

I have a proper but the grind is too thick, it’s not a great slicer.
Ah really? That sucks, I really like sheepsfoots and the Proper is one sleek-looking knife.

If Spyderco made a similar-shaped thing, I'd probably buy it. Sheepsfoot blades are great, and I'm always looking to try out more.

Re: Mourning for the brick and mortar stores

Wow. Didn't know the brick-and-mortar store situation was so dire out there, that kinda sucks. Sure it's great that online stores have made it easy to buy things, but it would be even awesomer to have both at once. Where I live, there's a knife store run by some friendly people, and a sporting goods...

Re: What's your 2 knife EDC system?

https://i.imgur.com/UWYKu4j.jpg My favorite knife, the Rescue, clipped inside right sock for cutting zip ties, most food, and most other things that need cutting. Endura clipped inside waistband or in a zipped jacket pocket for anything that a plain edge or a pointy tip would be better for. Does an...

Re: Your personal size categories?

Small: Native, Delica. Don't carry the Natives much anymore, looking to buy a Delica to keep in the garage as a box cutter. Not knives I prefer to EDC, but awesome for some tasks. Too small: anything smaller than the Native and Delica Medium: Rescue (old lightweight version without liners), Endura 3...
