Re: SpydieChef - Out of Stock

On Instagram, Marcin teased a Spydiechef Chef 2 prototype. Maybe early this year or late last year.

Thanks everyone. I’m definitely going to have to check out the sales. I literally had a dream about finding gold boulders last night.

Best place to buy pure silver?

So I'm kinda liking the idea of buying some precious metals, like gold and silver, just to have on hand. I'm not a doomsday prepper, and I don't think our currencies are tanking or something and we'll need to rely on barter and precious materials for trade. But, it'd be nice to have some sweet pure ...

Re: Bamboo vs. H1 serrations

Well, this IS what toughness is right? If this were ZDP those teeth would likely have broke off. Yes! I used the wrong word there at the end. Toughness != hardness. I was definitely surprised to be honest since H1 seems to be so tough. I think there may be some urban legend at play here. I don't th...

Re: Bamboo vs. H1 serrations

I really wonder if any steel in SE would have survived this. There are certainly harder steels with a reputation for being tough, but I feel like they'd have chipped before they rolled. I’d say it’s a darn tough steel. I just went out there (25°), and pounded on a massive 6” diameter bamboo tree. T...

Re: Bamboo vs. H1 serrations

The serrated teeth 100% bent, and did not break. So who knows. But as I was typing that H1 is tough I knew someone would tell me I was probably wrong! I love the info on the forum for sure!!! In any case, I LOVE H1 and my Aqua Salt and PacSalt are my 2 end of days knives. I’m going backpacking next ...

Re: Bamboo vs. H1 serrations

Bamboo is not just hard it also has silica in it. It's **** on steel regardless of the edge type. Gotta say I let out an audible "ooooohhhhh" when I opened that pic. You'll have to send that one back to the mother ship if you ever expect the edge to be like factory again. I'll avoid bambo...

Re: Bamboo vs. H1 serrations

I've cut bamboo with my 154CM CE Manix 2. It's in no way an appropriate tool for that job but it suffered no damage to the serrations. I don't have any experience with H1 but I'm surprised by the damage to the serrations. Any chance there was some lateral prying that might have rolled them over? Mi...

Re: Blown away by Sharpmaker

Nick and I are big KME fans (last he said on YouTube). The Sharpmaker is great for maintaining a sweet edge, for sure. There's a gentleman named Ken Schwartz who is famous for his CBN strop emulsions, and he also cuts Spyderco bench stones for the KME platform. I just got an Ultrafine cut for the KM...

Bamboo vs. H1 serrations

Today I found myself needing to chop down a bamboo trunk, which was probably about 2-3 inches in diameter. Normally I'd use my Esee machete, but I didn't have it on me and I had 10 minutes before my next meeting ("working" from home, you know?). Here is the bamboo post-mortem. (sorry for t...

Re: I wish Spyderco would make...

For $75, I'd buy a Spyderco Chimera (multitool) with: - externally accessible blade in a cheap steel like CTS-BD1 or even 8CR13MOV. Sprint runs or primo options in something real tough could be offered for more money - Needle nose pliers with a wire cutter - Phillips head and flat head screwdrivers ...

Re: Crazy deals @ Sierra and other places

Amazon has the Slysz Bowie for $226. Currently out of stock... you know the drill. I ordered that, thank you. I also ordered at $250. But don't hold your breath. I had them cancel one order right after the model was discontinued. I'm guessing there's a database out there giving them bad info b/c it...
