Re: Is there a BYRD in your pocket??

I bought the Robin 2 Wharncliffe at New Graham last month as a light, but powerful EDC; and because while I wanted a Tasman Salt, my budget wasn't allowing it. The Byrd Robin 2 Wharncliffe is an incredibly capable cutter for its small size--just today, I whacked back an overly grown area beside a sh...

Re: I'm having a Multitool midlife crisis

I'm about to put scissors (from a busted up and poorly repaired by me Fuse I bought a long time ago for like $5--that has a broken blade, destroyed cutters, and damage to both slotted screwdrivers, but strangely, unused scissors) into a Bond to sort of make it a modern Fuse. Fuse's layout is perfect...

Re: BHQ exclusive scales

As the owner of a crap pile of them and knockoffs from my childhood, I think something like this would be cool. Wouldn't make any less sense than the knives with fidget spinners built into them (except for all the tiny hardware).

I know these are an April Fools Joke, but they would be pretty cool.

One each in 440C and CPM-D2. Both are awesome steels I use heavily.

Re: Federal Agencies Issuing Spyderco Knives

https://www.parttarget.com/Spyderco-Inc_nsn-parts.html This is a website showin all NSN numbers assigned to Spyderco. Nato troops can order Spyderco knives by using this NSN number. I just think Spyderco is discreet about these things. Next time in a plane i'm going to look not only for unusual bul...

Re: Let’s talk SE fixed blades

Not a Spyderco, but I've used the crap out of a Dexter Russell 4" Sani-Safe net knife. It'll cut through anything like it's nothing.

Re: Magnacut or Bust Wishlist

I'd like to see a Ladybug, Manbug, and/or Jester in the steel (preferably all three). I've found the family (especially the Jester) punches far above its size class.

I've EDC'd knives up to four-inch blades, but keep going back to the smallest ones.

Re: Seconds sale 2022

Why or what makes a SECOND a Second??? It is a knife that has failed Spyderco's stringent Quality Control, but is still functional and safe to use. The defect can be something as small as a tip overheated during sharpening, a slight warp in the blade or a rough spot in the G-10. Most of mine I've n...

Ariat Byrds?

I didn't know Ariat had a knife line. I tend to through a knife or two in when I buy jeans from westernwear retailers, and this is no exception. I noticed a knife line introduced by Ariat in 2020 or 2021 looks very Byrd-like. They even have the trademark "Bird's Eye" opening hole and the &...

I think Montana Silversmiths or some of the other companies that produce belt buckles for rodeo awards were involved, but I'm not 100% sure.

"Fancy Tactical EDC"--Fake Spydercos

I am pretty darn sure these are fake:

One is a Rubicon--the other, I don't know.

Annoys me why eBay hasn't started pulling these listings and banning the sellers. Honestly, I don't think they care.

Re: Anybody Else into 3D Printing?

A friend of mine is getting a semi-industrial model (his use in making replacement parts required use of fiber-reinforced nylon filament), so finally I have access to something a lot better than the $150 kit printers. The first use is printing Mule Team scales. Need to finally get into understanding...

Re: Went into the store looking for a Dragonfly. Ended up leaving with something else!!

I have an S35VN partially serrated one I got as a second, and I love the ergonomics. Really want to try the M4 version; but am not really a fan of the mint/surgical green scales. LC200N is supposedly pretty tough also, and I love the bright yellow handles (much less washed-out looking than Seki FRN)...

Re: Optimum spring tension for slip-its

I prefer a firm spring tension, likely higher than most would like, but I also find the Sheffield spring tension to be a bit too strong. At least based on my two Sheffield made Lambsfoot knives. I have several, and I've noticed Sheffield really likes strong springs, even on cheap advertising penkni...

Re: Optimum spring tension for slip-its

I had a UKPK, decided (stupidly enough) to disassemble it for cleaning and lost the pivot. It felt weak compared to the traditional folders I had. This one was, I think the original model (GIN-1), and since this was pre MAP-days, I got it for around $35 as my local knife store had several they were ...

LWD Tactical Armorer's Tool Endura

I've been looking at getting an Endura for quite some time, and I've noticed the LWD Tactical Armorer's Tool is around $20 cheaper than the base Endura ($30 if you compare it to the base Emerson model). Plus, it's an Emerson opener. However, I really don't need the pin punch, and I'm concerned about...

I'm for sticking with one only. I prefer standard time, however.

I see no point whatsoever. I mean, the amount of daylight we have each day has nothing to do with us being on DST or ST.

Talk me into (or out of) the Autonomy 2

Looks like Virginia is repealing its automatic knife ban, effective July 1. https://lis.virginia.gov/cgi-bin/legp604.exe?221+cab+SC10125SB0758+SRREF I have been eying the Autonomy 2 since I got into Spyderco years ago, and I'm wondering if it's worth splurging for being an auto over say, the Caribbe...
