Re: What "others" are in the mail?

For my collection: Sears Craftsman 45563 Work Knife. This was made by Kershaw in Japan, and is exactly the same pattern as the Chubby they made for Snap On Tools. New on the clam pack; $30 shipped. I figured this was a decent deal. s-l1600SR945563.jpg s-l1600945563B.jpg For use, hard use. Wanted som...

Re: What "Other" is in your pocket???

These four. Antonini is on the belt, but will soon be replaced with something else. It's not that good. The Kabar 3189 ain't bad. I expected it to be crap, but it's a fully decent knife.

Re: I don't understand automatics.

I kinda like automatics, but don't get me started on cheap butterfly knives... Albeit, I've long wanted a Hackman or a Benchmade. I've had people go bonkers when I pulled out a Victorinox Classic SD--yeah, one of those little things; aka the most malignant knife ever made. Yet, I've also had people ...

Re: What "others" are in the mail?

The one thing that getting into Spyderco really changed with me is how nice some high-end steels are--my users are an S35VN Native 5, an S30V Para 3, and a number of Sekis in VG-10 and Salts in H1. But, everything else is 1095, 1085, 420HC, or 12C27. Years ago, when my great-uncle passed away, I inh...

Re: Need help understanding this steel

It sounds like it was written by someone who didn’t understand the description they were given. My guess is that it made just from Nitro-V. PS, I hope it wasn’t you who got the last MM punch blade stockman! No sir! But I've been looking at it. I'm hoping to find an older one Queen made, as I feel t...

Re: Spyderco UTILITY Knife...

I say have two options--one that's just a utility knife, the other blade/utility knife and perhaps some kind of pry tool. I'm looking at a Stanley model at the moment which has a bit driver and saw. I have several models--two Gerber (EAB and Transit), a Lenox (with a small screwdriver/bottle opener ...

Need help understanding this steel

I noticed this semi-custom knife from a place I usually order my Moore Maker knives and some jeans from. https://www.southtexastack.com/prodimages/alt_images/large/STT-IBK-RAZOR-MQ%207876-STTch.jpg I really don't understand what they mean by "Nitro-V Steel with an AEB-L base". Is this a non-knife gu...

Re: Doh! I have a Microsoft Issue....

I recently ran it on my backup computer and it found and removed two things Norton/Symantec missed. The problem was bad RAM, I believe actually (will swap them out soon), but I noticed the PC ran faster after those two "malicious files" were removed. Need to run it on the laptop.

Re: Tanto Para2: This Is The Real Deal & Thank you Eric Glesser

I don't own a Spyderco tanto (I have an Emerson, a CRKT, and a cheap Milwaukee), but despite my disdain for the blade shape, it's quite practical. I was cleaning out an outbuilding, and breaking up a pushmower box. The CRKT M-16 10KZ was used in addition to my Saver Salt for cutting up that monster ...

This is for people who really can't make up their minds, like myself. Some of my knives are tip-up, RH (those I can't open/unlock with my left hand), others tip-up LH (those I can open left-handed). I am left-handed. Schrade, back when they were still an American company did make an interesting conc...

Re: What Spyderco is in your pocket today??

Yesterday I was carrying my Salt 2/Wharncliffe at work. Most of my co-workers carry razor knives and I watch them slash away at the thin sheets of material we cut from rolls. The nearly 3" edge on the Salt 2 is able to make longer, smoother cuts. (Their work looks like a beaver chewed the material ...

Re: What Spyderco is in your pocket today??

Native 5 Combo Edge. I'm normally a PE or SE, NOT combo edge guy, but this factory second (bought during last Dec.'s sale along with the Para 3) has grown on me immensely.

I'm going to get a PE version, but can't decide between SPY-27 and S110V.

AG Russells. I had a small, Japanese-made titanium-handle penknife that was great, but I lost it. These are my first bought new. At $90, this is the most I've spent on knives in a LONG while. Thanks guys. To see this is not fake and a current production model, and can be had for the same price is reassuring. I can put this towards a model I like better, like the Stretch 2.

Centofante--Authentic?

I have the opportunity to pick this one up for $75. The individual selling it is pretty reputable on another forum, but Spyderco fakes can be hard to spot for some. The reason for me to doubt it is the markings look somewhat wonky, and the fact some NIB Spydercos have high resale values. But, from w...

I'd be another with a slightly smaller take on the Clipitool more inline with a 91mm SAK, but one-hand opening and unlike the current Clipitool, with back tools like the SAK.

Re: Poll What’s your Mule future

Whichever ones I can get. Spyderco doesn't seem to do that many in a year, and they are affordable. The Mules are an incredible bang for your buck. Most American-made (sometimes sharpened and ground, othertimes not) cutlery blanks are around $20 for basic ones, all the way up to close to $100 for ot...

Re: Spyder Classics: The Merlin

I'm a big fan of the Harpy, just not its size and weight. I've been thinking about the Tasman Salt, but I like the exact closed size of the Merlin/Harpy. From what I'm seeing, I do have the chance of finding a Merlin at prices similar to the $50 I paid for my Harpy. I found a somewhat affordable Har...

Re: How did you get interested in Spyderco knive

I blame my Granddad and the coal mining industry to start. Around here, practically every guy over 40 that worked in the mines owns at least one (and often several) carbon steel Klein Tools hawkbills. Do any work with one of these guys, and I will guarantee you, that's the knife they'll have on them...
