Do you clean the diamond and CBN rods the same as the ceramic rods or is there a different way to clean those?
I use liquid dish soap (Palmolive or Dawn) and a soft rag to clean my diamond rods. Plenty of hot water too. I make sure the rods are thoroughly dried before storing them away.

Re: Sharpmaker rod maintenance

Last week I needed to clean my Sharpmaker rods and reached under the sink and came out with a bottle of Soft Scrub. I normally us Bar Keeper's Friend or Bon Ami powders, but gave the Soft Scrub liquid a try. It worked great, and it was easier to squirt a liquid where needed than dust a powder cleane...

A folder with interchangeable blades would make a very interesting Mule test bed.

Re: Police 4 LW

I just received my P4 LWT, and it is excellent. It feels more comfortable in hand than the Endura 4. If there were one thing I would change about it, it’s that I would have moved the flat logo section on the handle a bit closer to the butt end. The knife clips on smoothly, it because the clip conta...

Re: Police 4 LW

My police 4 FRN arrived in today's mail. I love it. I'm a huge Delica and Endura fan. The Police 4 FRN is a tremendous addition to my Seki City FRN collection. It adds blade length over the Endura. It also seems to slice as well as a Delica. I'll need to carry it for a while before I draw big conclu...

Re: Help me decide : Chicago , Ladybug, Manbug

I just about always have either a Ladybug or a Manbug on me as a secondary knife. I have the following models - Ladybugs VG-10 SE, H-1 Hawkbill Salt, and V-Toku 2 PE - Manbugs H-1 Saver Salt, Hap-40 PE. The Manbug has a tiny bit thicker stock and handle than the Ladybugs, and comparable blade styles...

Re: Zdp-189 myths and truths

I've had a ZDP-189 Delica for three years, with no chipping or corrosion issues. I found it challenging to sharpen when all I had was a Sharpmeaker. I bought a KME system earlier this year and was easily able to put an extremely sharp edge on it. I sharpened it on the KME three months ago and it has...

Re: POLL: ENDELA: Who has already bought / will / will maybe / will not get one?

I've been a Delica & Endura fan for a decade, and the Endela was a must purchase item for me. I normally and prefer to carry a Delica, but if I expect I might run into a bigger job I'll carry an Endura. I live in Texas and there are no legal issues over which one I carry. I consider the Endela a...

Re: Delica or Endura ZDP-189?

A ZDP-189 Delica is my most carried knife. Second most carried is a VG-10 Endura. The Delica is one of the best slicers I own. The Endura is a good slicer too, but the thinner blade stock of the Delica makes it outshine the Endura on properly sized jobs. ZDP can be challenging to sharpen, but when i...

Re: Gauntlet vs Sharpmaker differences?

I have been using another brand and it works very well. I thought if giving the SM a try just for giggles. I've been using a Sharpmaker for general maintenance for about three years now and love it. From the descriptions of the Gauntlet I've seen, I do not think a Gauntlet would bring additional ca...

Re: Gauntlet vs Sharpmaker differences?

Does anyone know the length of the Gauntlet's rods? I figured they were longer than the 7" Sharpmaker rods, in order to handle long kitchen knives. I've looked around and can find no details on the Gauntlet's rods. Any comparison I could make would be pure speculation.

I'm not sure if they are done as Sprints or as dealer/distributor exclusives. I have the original carbon fiber Southard Positron and an orange G-10 Knife Center exclusive version of it too.

Re: Are you a collector?

I collect coins that I find on the ground and use them. I guess that makes me a collector of users, but I do occasionally find foreign coins which are not usable locally due to law. I collect non-users and use most of my collection of users. All this keeps the collection process dymanic and as fluid...

Re: Cru-wear Delica

Does CruWear bring anything to the Delica that the ZDP-189 version doesn't? It looks to me that CruWear is more rust prone and probably not as wear resistant as ZDP. This exclusive is cheaper than the stock ZDP model and it is tempting, but I have eight Delicas and my ZDP version was long ago paid f...

Re: Spyderco 2019 Lists: Delivered & Upcoming

Based on the May 2, 2019 release of the Spyderco 2019 Reveal Volume 2 and projecting the 90 days thereafter means that these should make it out to U.S. dealers within the next 2-3 weeks . I checked all the Spyderco knives in the Reveal Vol. 1 released on January 11, 2019 and all were at U.S. dealer...

Re: German 4116 series Stainless?

I always thought it was a budget stainless similar to 420HC or 440A. I've got many knives with decent 400 series blade steel, but they are nothing to go out of your way to buy these days.
