Q. Sal convexed edge on a sprint run knife ?

Hi Sal, I don’t know if you have gone over this on here and I’m relatively new on here but I was just wondering have you ever used a convexed edge on sprint run or have you ever used a convexed edge for any of Spyderco knives. It’s just I’m hearing that a convexed edge is the superior edge over the ...

Re: Sal SM-100 mule knife ?

Found it. http://www.spyderco.com/forumII/viewtopic.php?t=66055&start=20 There is a bit more going on on that page than just SM-100 but still I’m in agreement and can see the cons out weigh pros when it comes to bladed objects in SM-100 but it’s perfect for handles or scales, I mean titanium on...

Re: Sal SM-100 mule knife ?

Hi SEF, We've tried a whole lot of alloys over the years. If they were good and affordable, we'd generally try it. we even made knives with magnetic "locks". But in reality, the market is sometimes funny about weird expensive stuff and we lose our butts. sal Hi Sal, Like Spyderedgeforever...

Re: Sal SM-100 mule knife ?

Hi Stuman, Welcome to our forum. We felt it was too expensive to do a run of Mule Teams. The pieces would be very expensive and we didn't feel the market was large enough to support a run of 600 pcs. sal Hi Sal, Thanks for your reply. It’s really ashame because it’s a fantastic alloy, you can do so...

Re: Sal SM-100 mule knife ?

There’s is one or two custom knife makers using it and from what I hear and see it’s a fantastic alternative to stainless steel all be it an expensive one but hey if anyone can do it Spyderco can. Also Spyderco have pioneered new methods and or machinery to facilitate new steels so why not this one ...

Re: Sal SM-100 mule knife ?

I’m aware it’s a titanium based alloy that is hardenable that can reach a high hardness and good toughness where as it takes on characteristics of both alloys but is a more expensive option other than LC200N and H2. The reason I’m asking is because Spyderco is the best at bringing the best metals an...

Re: Uk Penknife Maxamet?

I agree with all of you, And the the UKPK should be a test platform for new and upcoming super steels as it can be used in most countries as a pose to a knife with a locking mechanism and over 3” inch which is not allowed out in public in some European countries and are banned in some others which i...

Re: Hitachi YXR7 Any Info?

HAP72 is the most toughest and most hardest metal hitachi does. It goes up to 70 HRC so is in Maxamet territory. HAP72 is particle HSS that transcend ordinary tool steels and high speed steels and is actually in a category of its own along with up to now CTS MICROMELT MAXAMET. Also K390 Micro clean ...

Re: What is REX 121 steel?

Do you know what I'd like to see ? I'd like to see an iridium knife. It would be stupid expensive but hey we already have stupid expensive tungsten carbide knives by Sandrin. What would you like to see as blade material that is forgive the punt cutting edge ?. Also you know how Sandrin knives are re...

Re: Spyderco ZDP-189 HRC?

Hello, Yes I agree with gunmike1. All though testing a steels hardness is usually accurate we all can be caught of guard. I mean ZDP 189 probobly has the ability to hardened further but because of its construction and its minerals it will go brittle but my point is what gives Maxamet its ability to ...

Re: Spyderco ZDP-189 HRC?

Hi all, It funny all of you should ask this question but before I give you all the answer you all seek let me tell you about what happened when I had both Maxamet and ZDP 189 tested both were Spyderco Knives. I first sent my Manix 2 In Maxamet to EMR Metallurgical labs United Kingdom and I was told ...
