I have two of the CS Vaquero Grandes and although my edc doesn't include them anymore it isn't because they didn't perform. I stuffed a leather jacket with a satin lining full of poly-fil, had it free hanging from a rafter in my garage and took a slash at it. The jacket opened from shoulder to hip a...

I carry both a right hand straight plain edge blade and left hand curved serrated blade, generally paired by size. Blade length is determined by circumstances. The pairs are: Delica/Merlin Endura/Spiderhawk or Matriarch Military/Civilian 5" custom fixed blade/Civilian The curved blade is used t...

In my experience I think the lifespan of the knife in relation to inertial opening is better considered in terms of the blade loosening and developing play than the number of years. I have three Enduras, two of which have gone through years of inertial openings and are as solid as the day I bought t...

If I want a slightly larger set of folders I go with a Civilian/Military combination. When I can use my p...

You can have every confidence in your military as a defensive knife! I have carried and trained with one for several years now and have never had it offer to fold up. I taped a phone book to my heavy bag to practice thrusts and while I destroyed the locking mechanism of a Cold Steel Scimitar, the Mi...

In my mind I think there is a difference in what each company markets that creates a bit of an image that affects how people may perceive each company. Benchmade seems to focus most of their marketing on their higher end, more engineered knives and less on their lighter zytel knives. Spyderco seems ...

I love my Large Dyad. I found that with just a little work and the right lubricant I was able to thumb open the straight edge blade and then do a quick drop snap kinetic opening to get the serrated blade out. I ended up with a double blade i my hand, one in standard and the other in reverse grip.
