Re: Wood Knife Handle Maintenance?

100% pure tung oil, not to be confused with "tung oil finish" commonly found at hardware stores, which probably has zero tung oil in it. And I'm very grateful that jpm2 has made me aware of the different "Tung Oil" products. I do have a really good ACE Hardware close to me and I'll check out what t...

Re: Benchmade Bugout Omega Spring Failure

I noticed a spring on one of my axis locks, while apart, was thin and flat on one side of it. Looking further it appeared to be rubbing the liner on that flat side. I adjusted the spring where it wouldn't rub and it's still intact 10 years later. I'm curious, for those who have had a spring break, i...

Re: Pound for pound the highest performing Spyderco is...

Pound for pound folding knife performance has always been measured by blade length for me. Equilibrium in that respect is 3 - 3.25 inches. This is in regard to blade length up to 4 inches. After that, the extra length needed for specialized tasks is justified, and best served by non folders.

Re: Doh! I have a Microsoft Issue....

I ran malwarebytes, nothing found. Ran defender, nothing found. Ran this scanner and 5 minutes into the scan, it showed 4 infected files. I had to leave before it completed. When I came back it had completed, saying it found nothing. So why was it showing it had detected, but then when finished show...

Re: Dragonfly & Manbug K390

Anyone else notice some discrepancies between the official K390 composition and what's listed in the note from Spyderco? https://imgur.com/UfxgBdN That's a lot of copper for what should be a very hard steel K390 seems to be a cousin of A11 and 10V. According to zknives, composition is roughly, carb...

Re: I took apart my Pheonix

Thanks for sharing, I'm always interested in the mechanics of a device.

Teflon washers, or whatever benchmade used in their mini afck, are fine with me. I beat on that knife every day for 15 years and the washers are still fine, no blade play and still smooth as new.

Re: Would you be interested in "that" kind of Paramilitary 2 (different blade) ?

If you lose some of the handle belly, with blade thickness no more than 0.1"/2.5mm I'm in. I would also make the hole slightly smaller to avoid the primary grind. That blade shape and angle is very close to what I prefer on an every day work knife.

Re: My very first Endura was stolen at gunpoint

I'm glad that you're okay. It kind of sucks that the only thing the news paper said was height, build, age and hair color. =\ California. Any additional information may be construed as discriminatory and is omitted. This stands out like a sore thumb, sad. Glad the victims were physically unhurt.

Specific model/blade shape/steel/coating/handle type/handle color. Spyderco or any other dealer can do the same thing if they change just one of those parameters? If the dealer doesn't re order in a specific time, it's no longer exclusive, yes? I don't see a problem with a dealer, or distributor tak...

I don’t know if you’ve seen those giant elastic 3 man catapults. I bought a couple for teenage nephews over the years. They are flippin’ hilarious, like water bomb artillery, although I discouraged reckless use, of course... :p I can imagine one of those would have been great fun for us kids, until...
