Re: Mid range cost work knife - why no M4/Cruwear w/ FRCP

I think a native5 lightweight in either cruwear or m4 would make excellent work knives.

Small wire brush for 2-$3 from a hardware store will keep the jimping clean and corrosion free.

3.1" blade, 4.3" closed. I'm thinking of taking off another .25" on each end.

Re: Can anyone identify this small wharny in M4?

Not sure if it was 3/16 or 1/4. It was made of small scrap pieces from work and don't have any more of it.
Thickest width of the handle is top of the butt end, about 0.55", and tapers to about 0.48" towards the bottom front.

Re: Can anyone identify this small wharny in M4?

I like the thicker scales too, much more comfortable to use. While shaping, I was going to round them but stopped here to try it out, and like it.

Nice job. I'm slowly working in the same direction with a GB1, but have a ways to go.

I hope so, along with m4 and hap40. I would also like to see m2 or an equivalent come back.

Re: Most "universally" efficient blade grind and shape?

For me it's a ~3" long, 1-1.25" tall spear point with 2/3 high flat grind, transitioning all the way to the tip, about .100" thick.
~4" long slightly curved handle lengthwise for a slight negative blade angle. Slightly rounded grips. I like wood, but G10 is ok too.

Re: Cruwear Millie abuse

"Use what you got" is good stuff. If it struggles, then you know, otherwise you don't.
I only had an m2 blade for many, many years and spent some of that time with it in the marsh redfishing. It's probably half the corrosion resistance of cruwear and survived well. It wasn't scared.

Re: Sell me on a Military.. since im a lefty

My favorite 4" folder. I'm right handed and if it was lefty would probably still be. 1. Depends on how you use it. For me it's yes with 52100 or m4. 2. Yes, on my 52100 3. No around the house, got plenty others that length and longer readily available. Camping yes, I hate digging out a food pre...
