Re: K390 Rust
Remove the rust ASAP. Bar Keepers Friend. Wenol. Then coat the entire blade and pivot in oil and send it back to Spyderco to have them remove the pivot screw. I hope threads such as this propogate another round of CQI for pivots which anchor non-stainless blades. Such pivots should me made user main...

Re: Behind the edge database!
@Sharp Guy: Can you post a shot of where you are measuring spine and blade stock thickness? I'll add some digical measurements to the database accordingly.

Re: Sharpmaker Noob Question - CBN or Diamond?
Supposedly one cuts faster with a reduced lifespan and the other is slightly less aggressive with a longer lifespan.

Re: Frog Lube gummed up Mantra?
I use FrogLube exclusively on knives these days. Mediterranean climate of SoCal. Paste for treating and the CLP for lubrication. I have not noticed any signs of rancidity with the recently reformulated version. I am aware of anecdotal reports regarding the previous formulation and am wary as well as...

Re: 52100 Military, what are your plans?
Makes sense. This is similar to a PM2 where I filed the stop pin liner hole to accomodate a stop pin sleeve which would not fully seat.

Re: K390 maintenance
You should disassemble the knife. Period. Either have Spyderco loosen the screw so that it can be extracted, or find a way to secure the pivot in place and attempt to unthread it after shock treatment and/or heating the pivot with a soldering iron (ideally temp controlled ala Hakko FX-600). Degrease...

Re: Lum Tanto...Yes or No
I voted no because I want more of Spyderco's time dedicated to the early release of the Shaman ;) . For only then will we be privy to Shaman sprint runs and dealer exclusives. I figure the Shaman to overcome the PM2 as my favorite Spyderco model after the Military :) . But I am not outright opposed ...

Re: First Spyderco in decades - first impression of my new PM2
I am a big fan of the PM2. If anything, I feel the tolerances are a bit loose. I have some where (upon lock disengagement) the blade drops freely, others which drop slightly and some in which the blade does not drop at all. The ones which fail to drop freely almost always show uneven washer wear upo...

Re: M4 jade Military exclusive!!
I dislike natural G10, but am game for M4. Count me in! As an aside, I spent over an hour disassembling a PM2 tonight. Red in abundance. Cleaned out the remaining residue with the assistance of 2.5mm and 3mm Ti wire brushes. Hoping for medium threadlocker on this one :)

Pretty sure those are Wilkins Grips... Oh boy...Another rabbit hole...I just sent an email inquiring about the Mytuko Cobalt. Might as well pick up the Mytuko Mini Cobalt to save on shipping while I am at it. Thanks for the intro to Wilkins, mattman. From what I see and read so far, the SO is going...
