There are friction points all over the pivot and back spring that have to slowly smooth and polish themselves against each other.
So yeah all folding knives have a break in period.

Paid $115 for a REX45 Native last night. I'm sure REX45 will be back soon. Not to mention it's $112 at National knives in stock.
