Re: You got your Ceramic Mule. How you gonna sharpen it?
No one here has mentioned trying diamond film. That's what Tom uses to sharpen his ceramic. Diamond film on acrylic blanks, 1"x6" plates. I have a worksharp professional precision adjust that ill be using. I ordered the 45 micron, 15 micron and 9 micron diamond films and also a nanocloth ...

Re: You got your Ceramic Mule. How you gonna sharpen it?
Also, for giggles, I tried to see if I could use my hardest waterstones to do anything, maybe polish, or rid myself of some of the toothiness. As expected, absolutely not. Don't even bother. I got a nice mirror polish from my Shapton Kuromaku 2k. It seemed to get a lot of the micro-chipping out as ...

Re: You got your Ceramic Mule. How you gonna sharpen it?
Ok, I decided to give it another go on manual sharpening this material. After the first session, I think I did not change my technique enough and was likely applying too much pressure in general. So today's plan was to do a 16k (1um) stropping on how I left the Rahven, and check under the scope, jus...

Re: You got your Ceramic Mule. How you gonna sharpen it?
My resin bonded are Venev Orions. They aren't cheap, nearly $60 each. (1) What concerns do we have about wearing out expensive stones while sharpening this mule? (2) Will anybody attempt to reprofile to a different edge angle? (Guessing not.) I did not consider this with diamond, but my 1200 feels ...

Re: You got your Ceramic Mule. How you gonna sharpen it?
Ok, here's some anecdotal info on the material. Before diving into sharpening the mule, I had a go at my Rahven kitchen knife. First, I have traditionally done all my sharpening by hand on waterstones. So take anything posted here with that in mind. Second, this material is stupid-level hard, and th...

I'm challenging the very bright folks here to come up with better ways to sharpen it and get it sharp enough to shave? sal Well then. Time to break out the spreadsheets and data collection. This will be interesting... Looking forward to it. Given they made "a bunch", are we expecting no l...

Re: Elastic Ceramic. Wow!
This material is awesome so far with kitchen use. I am really excited for this one, probably moreso than I was for the Magnacut drop. The mule format should let me abuse it more and really push it compared to my thin kitchen version. However that means I will need two in case the first one fails... ...

Re: MT39P – CPM 15V Mule Team Dropping Soon!
I haven't seen a buy button since it opened....still says coming soon? Never had an issue before. I really wanted 2 of these as well. You're not by chance looking at the T15 Mule page instead of the 15V Mule page by mistake are you? Yes. I am a very dull edge today apparently. I was rushing and hit...

Re: The Mule Thumb Ramp
...You can see my solution in my other threads. ... Do you mean the octagon handle solution? I don't see any other mule handle photos than that. But yes, making a tang of the mule handle, and then adding a large octagonal handle, would obscure the thumb ramp. I don't think you ever posted a final p...

I got a couple and swapped the blade from one into a S90v CF N5 body. Works perfectly. Going to do a dye job in the new s90v LW.

Re: The Mule Thumb Ramp
This has always bothered me and I have evolved my scale design to make it comfortable. You can see my solution in my other threads. It's essentially just extending the scales to widen/extend the ramp. I also like to have the scales extend a tiny bit above the ramp to give an index/reference point fo...

Re: Seconds sale 2022
I tried and tried, but kept getting timeouts. Pretty disappointed, I had 10 new knives in my cart. Couldn't get to checkout for some reason.
Edit: Finally got through with my 11 knives. That was almost as bad as the Magnacut mule release.

Re: Knife Center Native 5 Salt in magnacut
Is this thing ever going to be available? I saw it a month or two ago, and it's still not released yet. I pre-ordered on January 18th from KC. I still get occasional emails saying they haven't forgotten me... I think these retailers are jumping the gun on these things to lock in the sale as soon as...

Re: MT33P - CPM REX 76 Mule Team Release!
Been looking forward to this one, it's kind of on the edge across multiple parameters, very interesting to see how it performs against Z-max and Maxamet. Very high hardness, but less wear resistance, so maybe more sharpening-friendly when it does wear. Looks like maybe a tad tougher - but not sure t...

Re: A guard tab
I removed the tab as well, at least for one of mine. Here's a not-quite-finished pic. I used a carbide end mill. Wait...I missed this earlier...a carbide endmill can cut hardened steel? :exploding-head Yes, no problem. I kept it lubed and did small passes, backing off on speed if I felt or heard an...

Re: The Golden Rule of Sanding
Does anyone have issues with finer, 1500+, sandpaper getting quickly filled with fine saw dust? I feel like mine does after 30 seconds of sanding and becomes useless. I do a LOT of sanding at higher grits. I have a vacuum line set-up by my sanding station and if the abrasive gets filled quickly, I ...
