Re: Which new tool did you buy or use today?
I’m fond of the older Jonsereds saws. I have a 111S, a 90, and a 621…….all in good shape and good working order. I just used the 621 the other day on a tree that the wind blew down across the neighbor’s driveway and was amazed at how good it still runs and cuts after all these years.

Check out the lyrics to the song “Sam Stone” by John Prine. Sad, but right on the mark.

Re: Is anyone else completely in love with the Dragonfly?
The Dragonfly is my favorite Spyderco. I like smaller knives (Delica is my biggest) and the DFly just does it perfectly for me. I got a K390 version a while back and am still waiting for it to noticeably dull....I really like this steel so far. I really like my Chaps as well, but always seem to go b...

Not a bit of rust or corrosion that I could see. A light dousing with CLP and a little Tuf Glide should do the trick. I really hope I’m not the only one here that pulls these bonehead stunts!

One more for clipped into jean’s watch pockets. I thought I’d lost my fairly new K-390 until I pulled some clean pants from the closet before coming to work tonight. There it was, still clipped in the watchpocket after a trip through the washer and dryer.

Re: Anyone here with a recent pacemaker?
Doc Dan....first let me apologize for not seeing this and responding sooner. I’m on my second pacemaker. The first, in 2011, resulted from a condition called bradycardia. Simply put, an abnormally slow hearbeat caused by a nerve blockage in the heart. No heart attack or damage, bet constantly tired ...

I hate to admit this, but.....just got a new Chaparral LW a week or so ago and during looking/playing/mindlessly flipping I got bit. Twice.

Re: Chapparal LW
Again, thanks for the tips and suggestions. I briefly had a UKPK and liked it, but my older brother liked it so much I gave it to him. Might be time for another soon. Regarding the steel, the XHP seems to be a good compromise between the entry level steels and the real high ticket ones. A Chap with ...

Re: Chapparal LW
Thanks all, for all the replies. I’m liking the Chap LW more and more look forward to many good years of service from it. I tend to favor smaller knives....my Delica is the largest I have. The Dragonfly just always fit my requirements to a T and I love the shape and ergonomics. BUT, I think the Chap...

Chapparal LW
I finally pulled the trigger on a Chap. LW and received it this afternoon. I already have the carbon fiber version, but just considered it too nice for everyday use. I didnt think anything could replace my Dragonfly for all around perfection for day to day use, but this FRN Chap. is very, very nice....

Good for you, buddy! It’s been close to 20 years since I had a drink.....didn’t drink every day but I’m one of those people who couldn’t seem to stop at a reasonable amount. When it became obvious that I had a choice of stopping completely or risking the loss of my family, perhaps my job, and certai...

Along with the Loctite, I’ll pay more attention this time....like I should have the first time. I also really like the wire clips.

Re: D’fly lost pocket clip
Thanks a bunch, folks. No problem for 2+ years, then it disappeared. I’ll get an order in tomorrow....while the clip is really unnecessary if the knife is carried in a deeper pocket, I like to clip mine in the little watch pocket thingy on jeans, etc. Just my preference. I’ll definitely do the Locti...

D’fly lost pocket clip
Somehow, the clip and barrel screw that holds it in place on my FRN Dragonfly have disappeared. You’d think I would have noticed it being loose for a time, but one day it just wasn’t there. If I contact Spyderco directly by phone, will they sell me the new clip and hardware? Not sure of the right wa...

Re: Utility Knives as your EDC Knife and Emergency Survival?
I have a Gerber EAB Lite folding utility knife on me almost all the time, and use Irwin or Lenox heavy duty blades. Very solid little knife, and I probably use it more than any knife I own. I doubt this type of knife would be much good for food....not enough blade length.

Re: Lubes
I use Break Free CLP or Dawn/hot water and a soft scrub brush to clean and degrease. The Dawn detergent works like a charm to remove any dirt and grease prior to dyeing if you're inclined to change colors. For lube, I really like Otis Technology Dry Lube. Smooth action, no dust and lint attraction, ...
