The lack of a lock on the Urban helps keep it a small, light EDC folder for simple tasks. A lock adds weight. If a lock isn't needed, that saved weight translates in to a better pocket experience. However, I do agree that Spyderco needs more wharncliffe blades in the lineup. This is something that h...

Good points on the boxes. I was never fond of the new ones due to the flimsy construction and personal problems with the color scheme. I'd love to see a basic matte colored sturdy cardboard box. I also think that boxes with tight fitting lids hold up a lot better than the tray method or the folded m...

MountainManJim posted a thread about the mid-year supplement. It looks like the Urban will come out in two flavors to start. The thread is here . C127FG Urban – FG, leaf shaped SLIPIT. Looks like a short UKPK. C127OR Urban – Orange Urban with a wharncliffe blade That's great for people who want to b...

The main difference that the Urban will bring is the ability to mix and match handles and blades. No one is really sure how this is going to work yet, but it should offer a variety of customization options. I've seen Sal mention that they would try for May in regards to release, but things usually g...

ETA for the Urban is this month? Sal mentioned in a british blades's thread that they would try for May but that it would be tight. Spyderco usually has a huge amount of stuff going on, and this, bundled with other unforeseen problems, causes a lot of projects to get delayed. I'm just wishing on a ...

a knife that is quick to access, open, close, and put out of the way. This is another good point. The lack of a lock should make the Urban very fast when there's something around to cut. Not that closing a Spyderco is ever really time consuming, but I can definitely see the benefit of using the Urb...

I think some of Spyderco's success is due to the amount of new models and variety in the lineup. Some might not be popular or might not sell that well because of the price tag, but the fresh design innovation and dedication to providing new content keeps people coming back. There isn't anything on t...

By the way, Sal. I'm still waiting on confirmation of that Hawkbill Urban. That might be a good blade choice if the Superhawk manages to sell well or as a smaller alternative to the Superhawk. I think hawkbills are a hard sell in general as not many people really know what to do with the blade shap...
