I've never owned a Spyderco Military, so I would put the money toward one.

Thanks a lot for the contest -- really a great gesture.

And thanks to smikesmith3 for throwing ten more bucks into the ring.

I bought a ZDP delica. I like the blade. I don't use it, but I like it.
I think you should use your Delica some before forming an opinion about ZDP. How can you know if a particular steel works for you without cutting some stuff up for a while?

The lack of a lock on the Urban helps keep it a small, light EDC folder for simple tasks. A lock adds weight. If a lock isn't needed, that saved weight translates in to a better pocket experience. However, I do agree that Spyderco needs more wharncliffe blades in the lineup. This is something that h...

Two different websites, neither what I would call "mainstream" Spyderco shops (as far as I'm familiar with), have listed that the Urban is due September 17th. Thanks for the update, Mike. I think that's a good sign that the Urban will arrive sometime in the fall. My excitement for this model hasn't...

Good points on the boxes. I was never fond of the new ones due to the flimsy construction and personal problems with the color scheme. I'd love to see a basic matte colored sturdy cardboard box. I also think that boxes with tight fitting lids hold up a lot better than the tray method or the folded m...

It just looks like it didn't get rounded off as well as it was supposed to.

Just round it off yourself.

Thanks for the info, Sal. I figured this model might take a while due to the engineering involved with making a mix/match knife.

I added the new Urban release date estimate to the first post.

MountainManJim posted a thread about the mid-year supplement. It looks like the Urban will come out in two flavors to start. The thread is here . C127FG Urban – FG, leaf shaped SLIPIT. Looks like a short UKPK. C127OR Urban – Orange Urban with a wharncliffe blade That's great for people who want to b...

The main difference that the Urban will bring is the ability to mix and match handles and blades. No one is really sure how this is going to work yet, but it should offer a variety of customization options. I've seen Sal mention that they would try for May in regards to release, but things usually g...

ETA for the Urban is this month? Sal mentioned in a british blades's thread that they would try for May but that it would be tight. Spyderco usually has a huge amount of stuff going on, and this, bundled with other unforeseen problems, causes a lot of projects to get delayed. I'm just wishing on a ...

a knife that is quick to access, open, close, and put out of the way. This is another good point. The lack of a lock should make the Urban very fast when there's something around to cut. Not that closing a Spyderco is ever really time consuming, but I can definitely see the benefit of using the Urb...

Since the Dodo was discontinued I've felt a need for a full sized handle with a small sized blade and a good lock. This "Suburban" sounds like a good idea. As neutral as I am on hawkbills, I agree that the Dodo's handle really helped control the blade. The possibilities with the Urban platform seem...

Spyderco listens very well to their userbase, so if people want a locking Urban, there's a good chance for one down the road.

I think some of Spyderco's success is due to the amount of new models and variety in the lineup. Some might not be popular or might not sell that well because of the price tag, but the fresh design innovation and dedication to providing new content keeps people coming back. There isn't anything on t...

By the way, Sal. I'm still waiting on confirmation of that Hawkbill Urban. That might be a good blade choice if the Superhawk manages to sell well or as a smaller alternative to the Superhawk. I think hawkbills are a hard sell in general as not many people really know what to do with the blade shap...
