Re: Anything that can replace Chaparral?

If the Chaparral already bumped a Delica and DFly from your rotation, then it sounds like you found what works for you. Caly 3 and Native 5 are a couple of smaller knives, but both are quite a bit bulkier than the Chaparral. One knife which is very different than the standard :spyder: models, is the...

Re: Patina question.

I take it back. There is still some color to be had on an old patina. As long as you wipe it down with alcohol (99%) to remove any oil, it will still show some blue,

Re: Spyderco Photo of the Week Contest!

I'll join you Larry. Here's a representation of my Golden made G10 squad. Nice lineup! As you know the Police/Rookies aren't made in Golden. Still thought the Patches and knives fit together nicely :) I know. But I've been wanting an excuse to take of picture of this lineup :) . Now, once I add a S...

Re: Your toughest Spyderco Folder

I don't normally push my knives to the toughness limit. If I do, I reach for a beater, or oldest of the bunch. This particular PM2 has been through more than any other knife. Stabbed, dropped, torqued, and yes, even batoned. We have friendly fire starting competitions when camping, and this one has ...

Re: Patina question.

Hey Peter... To an untrained eye, these could be different blades. Ah, but look at the size of the ricasso and the straight lettering, young grass smoker, and surely you can sense the essence of PM2 in both pictures :p To capture those nebula colors, pic had to be taken at a drastic angle. As for t...

Re: Patina question.

From my experience, once oiled, rainbow patina will turn gray/brown. That means chemical reaction is ongoing under the oil/coating. We saw that in the metals industry,,, a brand new very expensive part was shipped to customer in Asia,,,, under the thick protective coating a hand print had etched in...

Re: What's wrong with S30V?

I don't have a problem with S30V. After all, it is how I started with Spyderco. Seeing how Spyderco has the capability to use a variety of steels and materials, what's wrong with us as customers wanting to try some of those options. Especially as some can be had for a few dollars more than the base ...

Re: Sent Brouwer in for bottoming out lock. Returned completely untouched

Some time ago, I developed a late lockup on my Mantra, but no vertical blade play. What worked for me, I pushed the insert forward while tightening it. Used a pin to wedge it between the insert and the back of lock bar, essentially forcing the insert forward. Loctite on the screws, and tightened as ...

Re: Bento Box Something Something....

Is signature required on the receipt of this package? I think the threshold is usually $200.

Just want to make sure I’m home if I need to sign.

Thanks.

Re: What is detail work????

Independent of the videos, as I don't pay attention to them. Detail work could represent a number of things. And obviously some knives do certain tasks better than others. Most of my use is not detail work, but I do enjoy taking a sharp knife to some whittling or emergency pedicure :p . Makes it eve...
