Re: Why Spyderco logo is painted?

I know some of my Taiwan Sydercos like the Rubicon and the GB1 have a deep etching of the logo which appears diamond shaped.

Spyderco Pingo?

This Pingo seems to me to be and odd duck. Yeah I know it's made primarily for sale in Denmark and other countries with PC rules concerning knife ownership. To me a Spyderco knife is desirable with its large hole to facilitate one hand opening. This Pingo by design must be opened with two hands. Wit...

What's a snail trail?

I'm not quite sure I know what the term "snail trail" means. It's often mentioned as being present on used knives for sale. Any one have an explanation or even better a photo?

There's a video on Youtube which shows what I think is a Janisong being deployed. Could be Mr. Rube Goldberg had a little input in this very complicated design. :D

Congratulations, I think that's a winner. Love those orange scales and I bet the knife is easier to find than in black.

Re: Dirty Rubicon.

Thanks guys for your advise. There is something wrong. I've never had a problem with any other Spyderco. Although I could live with it why when it's so easy to return and I've decided to do that. Thanks again all.

Re: Dirty Rubicon.

Thanks David for your response no offense taken. The dirty or dull scales were not due to scratches from a previous owner but from an unfinished final polishing. Mind you it came in a sealed plastic bag just like all the others from Spydercos I've purchased. I wish I would have taken a photo of what...

Re: Dirty Rubicon.

If this is a fake it would be a very costly one in that I can see it has a quality inherent in a custom. No I don't think it's a fake. It's my feeling that the final polish was not performed. I had a very similar situation with a orange bone damascus folder which had polishing residues in the concav...

Dirty Rubicon.

No not the river that Caesar crossed but rather the collaboration with Peter Carey's custom knife. So a while back I opined that I was reticent to buy any Spyderco knives made in Taiwan. Well let me tell you that I was shown the error of my ways in no short order. After a little research I became aw...

Re: Spyderco Books, Huh?

I have actually considered, with the permission of Sal if he were to give me the go ahead/green light on it, writing a book on Spyderco knives. My idea was to give a basic overview history of the company and the notable people involved, charts and run-downs of the most popular and used steel alloys...

Spyderco Books, Huh?

So in my attempt to research as much about the history of our beloved Spyderco I did a Google. Wow not much there. More surprising however were the prices, nothing under $180. What am I missing? If a book is no longer being published I can see the value being increased. Yet the price point would dic...
