Wow yes, I'd love to see and hear Sal these stories. Wouldn't need to be high production, just something simple.

Re: Really liking S90V

Every time I read to stay away from certain steels….in this case, due to sharpening difficulty….others come along with a love of that steel :hot-face So, is it hard to sharpen, or exaggerated rumor? :face monocle S90V is one of my favourite steels. If all my knives were S90V I wouldn't be sad. Usin...

Re: Sharp knives save lives

Having a knife is usually better than not having one. More options is more better. And I'll usually carry a sheepsfoot/modified sheepsfoot or even a hawkbill sometimes if I don't have any specific usage in mind and carry for just in case. Carrying side cutters makes good sense when out where old ba...

Re: Sharp knives save lives

I'm always scared about the tip of the knife when using it close to something such as dogs or kids.

Good on you guys for being prepared and acting when the time comes.

Re: Who needs a lanyard hole?

If I want to go hiking in the woods and I choose a dark knife over a bright knife I'll tie a brightly coloured cord to it so I wont loose as easily. Other than that I just find that lanyards are in the way when gripping the knife taking it out of the pocket or that it is getting in the way of the bl...

Re: Gayle Bradley 2

https://i.imgur.com/pXBp5cS.jpg I like my GB2 and carry it every week. If I were to nitpick I too would prefer a stainless steel. It would be more comfortable to not have think about wiping of the blade, I've had it develop some nasty patina when I miss that. I love the design enough to use it regu...

Re: Byrd Wharncliffe

I while I totally agree about the Harrier 2 FRN being the best of the line up; for fun I dug out my Robin 2 SE to break some cardboard down and again was impressed with that combo of the thin flat grind Wharnie blade, the heat treat of the steel, and those great serrations. If Spyderco were to cham...

Re: Byrd Wharncliffe

Been a while since I've posted in these parts, but I just had to big up the SE Meadowlark 2 Wharncliffe. It makes for a great warehouse work knife: thin & slicey bladestock great for breaking down cardboard, tough enough to pop even thick pallet straps, a relatively compact form factor that sti...

Re: Help me learn to make G10 scales?

I hope you can see my Imgur post in this link: https://imgur.com/a/auOy2rI https://i.imgur.com/OjcaFAR.jpg I made a G10 scale for my Dice because I got tired of the weight. In this case I chose a thin enough piece of G10 that I couldn't countersink the screwheads. If I would do it now I would do it ...

Amazing thread. Again. Yet as usual around here. I knew knapped obsidian was sharp, but that's another level of sharp.
I have heard that obsidian can be the sharpest because the edge can theoretically be an atom wide.
But if the edge is, to quote Sal, a ghost, what does that make an atom?

Re: Calling Larrin

I have brought this up several times. The high carbon tool steals will feel less sharp after a week where I live with no use. I now put Chapstick on the edges and sometimes the whole blade and put them in Ziploc bags. I found that putting them in carbonite works. All jokes aside, I've experienced e...

Re: Safety of IWB compression lock at 12:00 while running?

I run wither with a Salt 2 or a S90V Native and I tend to keep them away from the 12 o'clock position, often 4-6 o'clock.

I don't like the idea of being turned into Lord Varys, or slitting an artery in my thigh, in the off chance that something opens if I fall.

Re: Corrosion and Edge Retention

I've had the same thought. If I've sharpened my GB2 to a good hair shaving level and then not edc'd it for two weeks I feel like it doesn't have the sam sharpness.

It doesn't feel like a stretch of the imagination that the thinnest part of a tool steel would be affected just by sitting.

Re: M4 Native Chief/M4 Shaman Comparisons and Contrasts

I’d love a chief with contoured Micarta scales. I almost bought the M4 Chief, but the fact that there are no aftermarket scales yet held me back. Cuscadi can make them for you. Maybe! I can’t find an example on their site. It seems like the liner less construction is hard to replicate in micarta. U...

Re: Knives With Rounded Spine

To quote Sal from memory regarding the "nub": it's easier to take material off than to add it. A square spine leaves it up to the user. I haven't tried a knife with a crowned spine but I imagine I would like it. I'll have to try sanding down one of my knives. In my mind this would better s...
