Re: Anyone else still waiting for the para 3 lw cpmspy27 to ship?

I'm still waiting for my KnifeCenter pre-order. They show as not in stock, so I assume they're waiting to get more from Spyderco. I don't *need* the knife now, I just *want* it now. Someone will need to explain to my wife that even if I receive it around our anniversary, this is my delayed birthday/...

Re: Kiwi 5?

I always liked the look of the Kiwi 4, but I wanted to see it with fancier scales to elevate it from a utility look to a gentleman look. And maybe a more exotic steel for fun.

Re: Spyderco's Serrations Versus Competitor's Serrations

I have a Leatherman with a partially serrated blade that I really like. It's more of a smoother serration, so it cuts smoothly while still benefiting from being serrated. Spyderco serrations have much sharper teeth. Sometimes that additional aggressiveness can be helpful, but sometimes it just tears...

Re: What Oil do you guys use?

I use Frog Lube on the blades, but I don't use it in the pivot anymore. I felt like it gummed things up worse than other lubes.

OK, so I've never used a hawkbill, what is the attraction? Besides cutting rope, what advantage does it have?

After talking with my sister to get her opinion on what her husband might like, I've ordered the Dragonfly with SE. I hope he likes it!

Re: Salty Retirement Gift Suggestion

I was leaning towards the Dragonfly, mostly because I love mine and I think it's a good mix of being small but still very functional. But I can see how a hawkbill might be useful for cutting fishing line and whatnot.

Salty Retirement Gift Suggestion

My brother-in-law is retiring, and I was thinking about getting him a Spyderco as a gift. They have a boat, and do a lot of scuba diving and fishing, so I was thinking of something in the Salt series. What are your suggestions? I don't want to go much over $75. Something small for the tackle box, li...

My Mantra started out smooth like butter, but developed some friction and sticky spots. I'll probably send it in to Spyderco one of these days.

Re: Anyone else surprised RFP carry is so common?

I think I might be odd. I carry my knife in my left front pocket, despite being right handed. Back when I got my first spyderco, my cellphone had already resided in my right pocket. So not knowing any better, I clipped my knife in my left pocket to hang out with my keys. I know it doesn't make sense...

Re: Official Sliverax Discussion Thread

I love the look of the design. And ever since I got a Mantra, I've been enjoying the whole "flipper" action thing. I'm mostly worried about size. How does it feel in smaller hands? I'm one of those people who find a PM2 to be slightly too large and unwieldy. I find my Caly 3 and Mantra to ...

I went to our local gun & knife show a couple years ago and noticed that Spyderco was very under-represented. I only found one vendor even selling Spydercos, and with limited variety.

Re: I can't get used to the dragonfly wire clip...

I have the G-10 Dragonfly. I carry about 50% of the time clipped, and 50% just thrown in my pocket (but with the clip still on). Depends on what pants I'm wearing, what I'm doing, and what I feel like at the time. Although I will say I think it gets more dirt in the pivot when at the bottom of my po...

Re: Frog Lube gummed up Mantra?

Oh, and also, I love the Mantra. (Other than the "don't carry it in the rain" thing). It's lightweight but solid. Keeps a good edge. It's tough, but classy enough for business casual. And the flipper is super fun. Giving up the finger choil for more edge with the same blade length feels li...

Frog Lube gummed up Mantra?

So after a couple of times getting caught in the rain and seeing some rust spots on my Mantra's blade, I bought some frog lube to help with rust protection, as well as lubrication. Over time, I've noticed the pivot action of the blade getting less and less smooth. When new, I could flick the blade s...

Re: Anyone see Apostle P's rant on Spyderco?

I personally find youtube very helpful especially when researching a high end knife or one I dont have local access to. I totally agree - youtube videos are invaluable in evaluating a knife I'm thinking of getting but have no way to get my hands on until purchase. So don't disparage youtube knife r...

Re: Ouroboros Pass-Around

I'd love to get in on this list. My budget (and my wife) limit the number of knives that I buy, but I don't know anywhere to get my hands on them before pulling the trigger. I really like the looks of the Ouroboros, and a test drive would be nice.
