Vintage Civilian?

Hello, as a G-10 Civilian owner, I am very interested in checking out some of the older incarnations of this model. Anyone have any idea if/where these can be purchased? I'd imagine there is a hefty markup, which is actually fine.

Thanks!

Re: Opinions on .380 for my wife

Agree with the round in the chamber and with treating any firearm with great care, but why would you imply striker fired guns are less safe? My primary carry is a Beretta Nano and the inertial striker is blocked from impacting the primer until the trigger is pulled. Glocks use a similar striker blo...

Re: Opinions on .380 for my wife

Great article on the myth of stopping power, it is indeed a lot of BS. All one need to do is read a few Medal of Honor accounts. Some of them suffered multiple horrific wounds from shrapnel and rifle rounds yet kept fighting or saving lives. The link to a YouTube video below features an interview o...

Re: New Delica 4

Same! I almost had the same thing happen to me, jazz. At first I thought maybe it was just my WiFi connection taking a smoke-break or something :o dan, agreed! It really does perform well. I find it works for 99% of the tasks I have been using the faithful millie on. Good things do come in light, fr...

Re: Opinions on .380 for my wife

.380 (9x17) is a capable round, certain ammo being on par with the 9mm (9x19). Terminal ballistics data is available, as well as data related to percentage shot vs percent incapacitated/killed. In the latter, I believe that only shots where the attacker was incapacitated immediately are tallied. Her...

New Delica 4

Hey Spyderfans, just want to take a minute and tell you how much I love my new Delica 4 FFG w/ orange FRN scales. I purchased it from Cabelas last night, to replace the Military as my EDC user blade. I also carry a Civilian on a lanyard, opposite of my firearm. About this Delica... LOVE IT! Seki-Cit...

Re: What's your most recently acquired grail/special to you Spydie?

My newly acquired Civilian! Or "ole reliable" aka my Millie!

As a side note, the Military is one tough cookie. I've literally put it through the wringer, and it came out on top.

Re: Civilian Liner - Drilled out?

To anyone interested: I spoke w/ Spyderco CS, and they informed me that this was indeed a feature of the more recently produced products. This is due to their CQI (continuous quality improvement) process, and I am very relieved/pleased to hear this.

Awesome job Spyderco!

Re: Spyderco Knock-offs, "Replicas"and Fakes

Also, the Civilian isn't supposed to come in a box. If I'm not mistaken, it normally comes in the nice zippered pouch. Considering the low cost at which grubby counterfeiters sell these for, they are unwilling to buy the zippered cases and lack the expertise/knowledge/skill to duplicate them in-hous...

Re: Spyderco Knock-offs, "Replicas"and Fakes

It is fake. The back-lock must be indented on the VG-10 model. If I were you, I'd stick to authorized dealers ONLY.

Civilian Liner - Drilled out?

After watching several review videos (several years old, admittedly) I have learned that the Civilian's single liner is (was?) not typically drilled out. However, the liner in the model I purchased recently from BHQ does have three holes drilled in the liner, presumably for weight purposes? Would lo...

Re: Civilian - What to look out for?

Just curious (wanted to make sure): The Civilian's single SS liner is drilled out, correct? Just making sure, considering how many fakes are floating around. Although, I purchased mine from BHQ (a reputable dealer, from what I understand) it never hurts to double check. :D EDIT: By "drilled out...

Re: BEWARE of FAKE RICE from China!!!

Quite frankly, I wouldn't be surprised. I would be astonished if anything coming out of that goofy place were genuine. That said, plastic rice is pretty hard to believe - but only because of how cheap rice actually is. Wouldn't put anything past them, otherwise.

Re: New Civilian

Same here! I will say this much, I doubt it will be the last Civilian I purchase from BHQ :D Just in case this one ends up being carried.

I must admit, there is a sense of security when holding this knife. Photos simply do not do this blade justice, it is truly something else.

Re: PE Autonomy and/or other knives featuring the Plunge Lock?

Almost picked up an Autonomy, but it is hard to imagine any purpose for it besides cutting restraints. EMT shears (~$5.00) will do that job really well, too :P Just kidding, the Autonomy (Embassy and Citadel, also) is a well designed auto. The Plunge Lock is a great mechanism, similar to one used on...

Re: Spyderco/flashlight match-up.....

Such an awesome thread! I carry a Surefire "E2D" (500 lumen model) along w/ my newly acquired Civilian. Also, I think Surefire's "Titan Plus" in the nickel finish looks great with almost any Spydie.

Re: New Civilian

Just wanted to give everyone an update. I received my new Civilian from BHQ today, and it is absolutely AMAZING! My first impression was that the packaging was very secure/protective, and I really enjoyed the high quality zippered case provided with the tool. As for the Civi itself, WOW! Could you a...

Appreciate that Water!

It certainly has never let me down, and I don't find the CPMS30V to be exceptionally difficult to sharpen. What a difference the Sharp Maker (sic) makes, though.

Re: New Civilian

Thanks! I agree, and it is definitely my favorite EDC despite the larger size. I find it can handle pretty much any cutting task I throw at it. For those it can't, time to break out the saws. I really purchased the Civilian due to its unique design. I carry a firearm/OC for SD purposes, so I doubt I...
