Trailing strokes on a mouse pad, like stropping but on progressively fine auto body sandpaper...it helps to have clearance by placing it on the edge of a counter or raised butcher's block. You can get really beautiful convex edges with a little bit of patience and a steady hand.

Same, although I'm not able to see your pictures...

I haven't had to replace the bearings or washers yet but did pull them out and lube them about a month ago, the difference was night and day.
