Re: prices jumping again?
I think that dealers cannot advertise a price lower than 35%, but they can still give coupons, or other such things. At least, that is how I understood it. To add on to your explanation and not meaning to be a downer, but they likely won't offer a steeper discount unless clearing out poorly selling...

Re: 10 years of Millie goodness
Gosh, you have one in BG-42. The Millie is a dangerous lil' guy. I bought a 52100 because I wanted to try the steel and didn't have a MIllie yet...didn't think I'd carry it much because of it's size compared to most of my other knives at the time. Well, it wound up being my main EDC everyday for mon...

Thanks for this. Picking one up now. Nearly $80 off the price they've been for a year or more.toxophilus wrote:And... the Southards have now dropped in price at Knife Center :spyder:

Re: Mule scale attachment
Hey!
I have a Mule team as well, got the Halpern micarta scales for it. You shouldn't need epoxy on them at all. I use my mule team for anything from light kitchen work to non-batoning camp chores. No problem so far, nothing loose!

Re: Spyderco Shaman News and Gossip Thread
A front flipper + compression lock would be quite good. A small, high quality material front flipper would make a helluva gentleman's knife if combined with the compression lock. With how strong the detent/firing strength of models like the PM2 are, you could probably make the front "tab" ...

PD1 Mule team and then possibly a Caribbean in sheepsfoot. Also, the partial serrated 52100 PM2 to go along with the plain edge if they're still available in a while.

Re: Spyderco Paramilitary 52100 Carbon Fiber
It's interesting this one is an exclusive. Wasn't the 52100 Military a sprint? EDIT: Read further back in the thread, pretty excited it's an exclusive! This one isn't a sprint? Mine's on the way from bladehq. If this sells as slow as the millie version did, I'll have time to pick up a second one ;p...

I don't like how the blade isn't angled down like the original is - that's something I've come to love from many of Spyderco's designs.
Otherwise, pretty **** nice! I wouldn't mind carrying that for work in the yard

Re: Can someone help me understand the AT Barr One-Eyed Jack?
It's actually priced very well compared to what AT Barr knives with far less detail sell for. The filework on the back looks absolutely gorgeous and I like the oddity of the inlays. Wish the blade was thinner, but I suspect it won't be a problem in actual use - the PM3 is about the same thickness, y...

Re: Round Hole Trademark
Eh, I doubt they were trying to infringe on anything. Andrew Demko is a stand up guy as far as all he's shown for the last 10+ years. Many, many companies now use a hole in some form in lieu of a thumbstud. Cold Steel makes some excellent working man's knives at some pretty great prices. They aren't...

Arrgh, just decided earlier today I wouldn't order any new knives for the next 2 months. The DLC and natural G10 look very, very nice together.

Ebay is offering 20% off "Collectibles", which happens to be the category pretty much every single knife is under! Use code PROMONYCC . Looks like the max is $50. Thank you! Brand new Raffir Noble Chapp on it's way. Kept going back and forth between it and the CF version, this pushed me o...

Re: Police K390...yea it's freaking awesome.
The whole blade length vs usability debate really baffles me sometimes. The same people who complain about knives being too big, I wonder if all they use are paring knives in the kitchen? Choke up on the blade in a pinch grip and you have all the control you need. If I know I won't be in a situatio...

Re: Favorite Grind Style "Poll"
Thin hollow grind, a scandi, a saber and generally no microbevel. Those grinds tend to work best out of the ones I've used heavily, but I have no problem with a FFG, as that's what most of my spydercos come in.
I suspect FFG will win out here

Re: Spyderco Paramilitary 52100 Carbon Fiber
Two questions, - I don't have any CF :spyder: . Is this full CF or a G10/CF laminate? - I am only getting one. 52100 or Maxamet? My only experience with these types of steels is K390, and so far I love it. I'd go with the 52100 because you love K390. Maxamet is so awesome at everything that it's so...

I actually use my knives. All of my knives on rotation. From full customs and mid-techs to a kershaw I got when I was 15, all see mountaineering and general camping time. If I can't find a use for a knife in my job and am avoiding putting it in my pocket, I lend it to my buddy that does a lot of dem...

Congratulations! Re: POLL: Gayle Bradley 1 Sprint...Yea or Nay???
I voted yes, but I have no idea what you would replace on it to make the sprint stand out. Maybe a near mirror polish maxamet blade with the twill handles from the Air, but with a different color....like a rust red or black. It'd be a classier, upscale GB1 but can still get down and do any job.

Re: Back After a Few Years... Thoughts on LW Knives.
Only reason I bought a LW Manix2 was for the Maxamet. Loved the idea of this steel and made sure to speak with my money; I want other lines with Maxamet as standard offering and it looks like that will be the case soon ;p It's a great carry for days when I'm not expecting to need a knife in hand for...
