Re: SD with Yojimbo and co: Real life data who could / has actually done it in a planned, controlled manner(Mr. Janich..

These threads always lead me to questions of options, #1 Always bravely run away. #2. Carry a gun. Or #3 If you lack training is it better to have a knife made for SD (Civilian), or a knife that you use often regardless of shape or size? I think about complete lack of finite motor control if you are...

Withdrew knife bashing comment.
Why ?

It does absolutely no good to throw negative comments out there. Just because I really dislike the knife doesn't mean that it isn't someone else's grail.

Re: Wharncliffe Para Military 2 CUTLERY SHOPPE EXCLUSIVE

Other than a slight difference in blade shape, I wonder what function this knife offers in actual use that the Yojumbo doesn't?

Re: Did I miss out on the Native Chief Sprint Run?

I received mine and I used it for light tree and yard clean up over the weekend. It is a gem of a knife in all manner of speaking but for the type of knife and the tasks that I want to use it for I wish that I would have held out for the upcoming REX sprint or some future exclusive. This will probab...

Where to purchase GEC?

I recently started buying some GEC models but I have real difficulty finding a version of any model that I want that isn't sold out instantly. It's like wanting a Spyderco sprint or exclusive but not knowing where to look. Do you all have a go to place that you buy these from? I see multiple version...

Re: Has K390 "obsoleted" M4/REX45/HAP40?

My familiarity with a steel has a lot to do with my ability to sharpen it. I am able to get M4 pretty sharp but I have found K390 and REX45 mainly beyond my sharpening patience. HAP40 is different but the conventional wisdom is that it's run softer than the others.

Re: Gayle Bradley 3 - will there ever be one?

Sal has mentioned in the past that Mr. Bradley is working on a GB3 but that was pre-covid so there is no telling if that idea has been shelved for a while, but I would be up for one. The GB1 is one of the most solid knives that I have ever owned from Spyderco and I really can't imagine changing a th...

A medium one with a 3.25” blade, bolster, red or ivory G10, hollow ground, 20CV or M390 steel. Jewell !

This is almost exactly what I was thinking as well. An ivory model in particular would make a really beautiful knife and hasn't been done before. Very nice!

Re: Help with decision? Sage 1 max vs Para3 max vs Sage 5 LW

I have owned both and I absolutely love the Maxamet Sage. It sounds perfect for your setting and the liner lock is really solid. I am not a fan of the Para 3 platform and I sold that version but the Max Sage continues to find its way back into my pocket. It's slices like a laser and, the ergos of th...

Re: Burning a hole in my pocket.

In fairness, I have sharpened for years and can't get the extreme edges that some folks here can get. I know that there is a practiced touch but there is also a gift in the right amount of pressure. Kind of like why some people can throw a 100 mph fastball and with the exact same motion others throw...

Re: Spyderco Pairs: Reviews and Reflections

I like pairing a Military or GB1 with a Hawkbill Dragonfly. They are different enough in both size and function that I can cover a wide range of tasks for light yard, helping with a small cattle herd work and general upkeep.

Edited to say that a Manix keeps finding increasing time in my pocket.

Re: Sage 5 Lightweight Frenzy

It may only be me and it may be corporately inappropriate but I think an AXIS lock would be kind of cool and a nod to an old friend. I have a mini-grip with a Spyder hole and it might be kind of neat to have a Sage with an AXIS lock. To me, it's the best thing about BM knives and a fine lock.
