Re: What Spyderco is in your pocket today??

Salt2.jpg I got this for gulf coast fishing trips but it's become my EDC. I've abused it on two fishing trips, making sausage, cleaning a deer, and cutting about a hudred boxes and it looks like it just came out of the box. Wasn't real excited about the chartreuse scales, but it's grown on me. It's...

Re: Spyderco Photo of the Week Contest!

I think I'm almost happy with the light on this one. :) Usually take an archival 'before' pic of new knives but this one is after a few months of daily abuse. I got it for coastal fishing trips, but it's now my EDC knife. It's been through sausage making, fish cleaning, a whitetail doe, and about a ...

How about a "Pelican"

I love my Cara Cara2, but I always think, folded up, it looks a bit more like a Pelican than an eagle. Which got me to fantasizing.... I know it's supposed to be a "value" line, but what about something salty in the Byrd's nest? In my version of the fantasy, it's got similar lines to the C...

Re: Robin 2 is tight and crunchy

Thanks Sal. Yes, it's smoothed out nicely. I use folders like a lot of people use those "spinner" things these days. I don't mean I spin it around, but at rest, I usually have one in my hand just mindlessly opening and closing it. The Robin is smooth enough for the famous Spyderco thumbnai...

Robin 2 is tight and crunchy

Latest pickup is a Byrd Robin 2 with G-10 handles. I've been carrying a Raven 2 for about two months now and can't say enough about it. The Raven was perfect out of the box. My first Byrd was a Cara Cara 2, and it was a little on the stiff side until I opened it about a hundred times. Hoping the sam...

Re: Loosen stiff CC2 & ML2?

I have three Byrds, Raven2, Cara Cara 2, and a Hawkbill. The Raven and Cara were fine out-of-the-box, but the Hawkbill was super tight, and even like you mentioned, it was still stiff EVEN WITH THE PIVOT SCREW BACKED OUT! I finally figured out that the handle screw closest to the piviot screw was so...

WTMEDC-Way Too Much Everyday Carry

I just got a Matriarch 2 lightweight and I'm a little infatuated with it. I didn't think I'd want to carry it all the time, but so far, I do. Problem is, I don't want to stop carrying either of my other two constant carry options. The MUST HAVE is my trusty Man Bug. It actually does about 90% of eve...

Matriarch 2 First Blood

I just got my Matriarch 2 Lightweight in the mail and was bleeding within 5 minutes of unboxing it! I read the included phamplet cover-to-cover because I like to tell myself I have at least SOME inpulse control, but then I pulled it out to open and close it a few dozen times. I REALLY LIKE the look ...

Re: Name the spyderco you can't pull trigger on

I have a strong urge to get a Civilian, but only because it's weird looking. No need for combat stuff; I always carry a revolver, but then again, I didn't really "NEED" half of the knives in my collection. I've been stewing on getting a Civilian for about two years now.

Dat Clacky Flik Tho!

Just got my latest Spyderco---a Tenacious with a full SypderEdge blade. It was kind of tight but not as bad as the Cara Cara 2 I got a few months back, but even with that one, I've found that they "break-in" after 50-100 "flicks." It's the "flick" that I want to talk ab...

I'd love to see a hawkbill with an index finger choil. -Bryan I've had a Byrd "Hawkbill" on the bench for a couple weeks now. It has a finger choil and I find myself reaching for it more and more often. I think the Choil has something do with that. It's chromolly, but I figure if it corro...

Sharpmaker OCD Freakout

Just followed the simple directions in the pamphlet that comes with the Spyderco Sharpmaker 204MF. The only knife I had that was ready for sharpening was my trusty VG-10 plain edge Manbug. My EDC is the Manbug + Some longer utility knife (currently a Byrd Cara Cara 2). I mostly do a lot of fine cutt...

Re: 2018 Forum Calendar Contest!

June? Indian summer? Got hooked on Spyderco knives last August when I got the Tenacious; a perfect knife for outdoor summer carry. I've added a new Spyderco knife about every other month. When I get a new folder I like to make a commitment to carry it exclusivly for thirty days (but I always carry t...

Saturday With My New Hawkbill

Starting my 30-day trial of the Byrd Hawkbill today. When I get a new folder, I like to commit to EDC it for 30 days before making any judgements. Since I'm a hell-on-wheels kind of guy, that's usually enough to turn up any design flaws or defects in workmanship. It's a sleepy Saturday with not much...

My new G-10 Tenacious cherry-popper w/hand-tied paracord lanyard. I pulled off the stupid clip thing.

Definitely not my last Spyderco!

A Thing of Beauty is a Joy Forever

Just popped in to sing praises for my first Spyderco. My Army Ranger brother-in-law carries a Spyderco Endura that he swears by. He kept telling me I should get one, but I'm an "absent minded professor" type that holds to the Scottish principle of "cheapest tool that will do the job.&...
