The temperance 2 is a wonderful knife. My favorite knife ever. I have 3 of them.

Re: Sal, Zoomer help please

I bought a zoomer on clearance. It's worth what I paid for it but I would be mad paying full price. It is butter knife dull and the Appleseed grind doesn't even go all the way to the edge. It has been finished with a microbevel.

Re: You Don’t Know What You Got ’Til It’s Gone

There was some talk in a old thread about bringing back the temperance 1 in VG-10. I hope that is a reality. The temperance 2 is my favorite knife. I have never used any knife that felt better in hand. It's like it was made for me. The balance is supurb and it's light enough to hike with and forget ...

Re: MT38P - M398 Mule Team Release!

I am shocked that these are still available. This is a steel with edge holding comparable to, or perhaps better than s110v (based on Larin's tests). Mine takes a sharp and aggressive edge. The steel will take a fine edge if you really work at it, but I don't think that's its forte. It feels a little...

Re: Get me excited about M398

Broke down some furniture boxes with my M398 mule today. Edge holding is excellent. Definitely s110v / 10v class.

Re: Get me excited about M398

I just got my mule yesterday and put a toothy edge on it with DMT plates. It feels hard on the stones. It wouldn't surprise me if hardness was above 63 Rockwell. It sharpens hard. Like s110v, maybe worse. Not much burr, so at least that's a plus.

I have one. I wish it was bigger. The steel is meh. The design is quite nice though.

Re: Did CruWear Make S35vn Obsolete?

It is interesting how similar the edge holding is between these two steels. S35vn sharpens a little harder but not much. Corrosion resistance is the main difference.... Have definitely had rust and spotting on Cruwear. Never any hint of rust on s35vn in my use.

Re: Military Knife Dark Blue G-10 (4" Satin CPM-S110V)?

I have one of the early s110v militaries and it's a great knife. Mine feels like it's run hard. It outperforms the s110v in my manix and pm 2. I really like the steel. I run it at a low angle (about 10 degrees per side). It makes sharpening easy with DMT stones. I just set the bevel with an extra co...

Re: does k390 have any advantages over 10v?

I find 10v to be a good bit more stainless. But when 10v does corrode it tends to pit. I like the way k390 sharpens better.... Takes a refined edge easier than 10v. Really they are very similar in my use. Edge holding I can't tell a difference. For reference I have a pm2 and several K2s in 10v, and ...

Re: Serrata use?

I got one when they first came out (mine has a collector's number). Haven't used it a lot but did use it to partially skin and process a couple deer. I like the dendritic 440c. It holds up very nicely for use on meat, silver skin, tendons etc. It really does run circles around vg-10 in that role. Th...

Re: Comments on the LC200N mule (MT25)

I have the lc200n mule. I think it's run too soft. I also have a spydiechef and the steel in that is much better. As is the steel in my son's Caribbean. I am not a big fan of lc200n regardless, but imo the mule is the worst example of this steel I have worked with.
