Re: Community Sharpening Journal

Thanks Alex! Great post about flattening stones. It's something I seriously need to do. Have you ever flattened bonded diamond stones? If so any recommendations? You’re most welcome mate! :) Yes, Venev bonded Diamond or CBN hones are bonded with resin I believe and are easy to flatten using the exa...

Love your work Connor, thanks for sharing!

I’d give it a go myself but I only have a Ladybug and Dragonfly in SE. :)

Re: Community Sharpening Journal

Bloke, thanks for the mini guide. I'm going to pick up some SiC powder soon. You’re most welcome ole mate. I’m glad you started this thread and I’ve followed it but I’ve been dead slack and haven’t sharpened diddly in quite a while. If it hadn’t have been for the bloody chicken wing, I had no great...

Re: Community Sharpening Journal

I damaged the factory edge on my Province a little, chopping bones and figured I’d give it a full sharpen. Here’s the same stone from my last post. The stone feels great and at this stage I’d say cutting 4V fairly well. https://i.postimg.cc/zvqSV2Bj/9-AA59506-EE8-B-4-AA9-BC9-C-8-EBDF99-EB268....

Re: Community Sharpening Journal

Hope someone might like to see how I flatten SiC stones. :) It’s easy and makes a big difference I reckon. This is a 220grit stone I use to re-profile because I like the way it feels and it gives me a better idea of a particular steel’s wear resistance compared to diamond or CBN abrasives. Anyhow, I...

Ah, hahaha! I took the plunge and sharpened it Joe, and that was the turning point.

Re: Province - First Impressions.

I’m thinking I’ll follow the original bevel angle and take it to a 1200grit Venev bonded diamond finish without micro bevel, but I’m open to suggestion. :) I'm betting after grinding the damage out and finishing like you say, it'll suffer less damage, and maybe even none, doing the same thing. Yes,...

Re: Province - First Impressions.

Hey Does, mate, I may be laughing on the outside ... on the inside I’m bawling my eyes out. I knew for certain the edge would suffer chopping through the main bone in the wing so it’s not what I’d do with a hatchet let alone a thin edged blade. 4V is proving to be a bit of a Super Steel n...
