The current army pattern would be nice. Tiger stripe is cool also. Mossy Oak is always welcome.
All good ideas Doc, but being a overly manly man myself (I don’t carry a Dragonfly. Ah, hahaha! :p) I quite like:

Re: What "Other" is in your pocket???

Hey Killer, I've been looking at the 5" 4V Bark River Kephart. I've not seen the Mountain Man but I'm interested now. 2.2mm blade stock is certainly appealing. Ha, I actually have the 5” Kephart as well. I will try to get a comparison pic for you soon. I also have the Wilderness Explo...

Re: What Spyderco is in your pocket today??

That's pretty cool. Always fun finding a fellow Spyderco fan out in the wild. I spotted someone with a DLC Military at work a couple months back. Always nice to spot another fan in the wild :D It certainly is fellas. This is the second one now on Base. A while back one of the Clearance Diver's had ...

Not in the pocket, sheath is fixed to my life jacket. It was gifted to me yesterday. Had a $6.99 sticker still on it.

Re: What "Other" is in your pocket???

My new camp knife. Bark River Mountain Man. It is 5.5 inches of 2.2mm 3V with antique bone linen micarta and red liners. It has a thin grind, a swedge and some distal taper. Overall it is an insanely slicey knife for the camp site. I used it all weekend for all manners of camp chores and it perform...

Re: Native Chief - Can we get a heartbeat?

Thanks for the detailed breakdown there Bloke, it does give more insights of the overall construction :) That Millie is neat, I preferred the "bigger" options sizing around the Chief / Manix XL / Millie and planned it to be my first Spydie. Which in the end I get the extra chunkier XL today as my f...

Re: Native Chief - Can we get a heartbeat?

What does the Linerless means? Could anyone enlighten me more on this, thx in advance :) Pelagic answered the question but perhaps this may help better clarify things. This is a Military model disassembled. The locking mechanism is called a Liner Lock and wouldn’t work without at least one liners. ...

Re: Just the brown SM flats

Creating a microbevel is really THAT easy?? Simply switch back to the 40 degree setting, a few light passes on the CBN, browns, fine stones and you're good to go? If you’ve reprofiled the blade and your apex is clean and burr free you shouldn’t need anymore than two ultra light and deliberate passe...

Re: Do you immediately sharpen a new Spyderco?

Of the twenty plus odd Spyders I have the only two that came less than sharp were my first Sprig (second one not much better) and my Southfork was the worst so I reprofiled both to 26-28deg before using them. All other Spyders have come sharp. At very best I’ll give them a light strop initially, not...

Placing a knife under the bed of a woman giving birth is believed to ease her pain during labor.

Hard to confirm as knives aren’t allowed into hospitals here.

Re: Just the brown SM flats

Cleaning the stones? I don’t think you can ever have your stones too clean and it may be worth noting, the finer the stone the quicker it loads up thus pushing the apex rather than cutting it and ultimately results in a burr. So my theory; is clean stone = clean apex. Clean apex = sharp blade...

That Lum tip gives me flashbacks. Many an hour grinding away at new knives to get a perfect bevel. When I think of all the wasted steel :( Over grind at the heel doesn’t faze me too much at all Tim, Tips are another story altogether. The very tip is slightly over ground and slightly rounded which b...
