https://youtu.be/2hOLm_k6eCs :) Jim Yeah, that´s a true Austrian woman ;) Jim, that’s Gold! Gernot, ole mate, you’re starting to confuse me. I took it on face value when you (and Doc) reckoned the fellow blowing the alphorn was Swiss even though I still believe he could well be Austrian. Any...

Re: New Member from Austria

Apologies, Markus! I didn’t mean to imply that you’re Swiss and blow an alphorn but I’m tipping you can probably still blow one as good as anyone in Switzerland. Anyhow, welcome again, mate. I’m sure you’ll like it here. the guy in the pic clearly is from Switzerland, not Austria... ;) Hahaha...

Re: Re-finishing Sharpmaker Rods

Welcome back vivi! :) I’m anal about flat stones so I lap all mine with loose grit SiC. Conventional stones like SiC and Al2O3 as well as the Venev diamonds etc. are held together by a bonding agent which makes them fairly easy to lap because you’re dislodging particles from the bonding agent. Spyde...

Ah, hahaha, ah, hahaha, ah, hahaha! Joe, you’re an egg! :p Thank you all so very much! :) Our kids came over (last night) with their families and I got plenty of hugs and kisses from our darling grandkiddies and nothing comes close to beating that. Our daughter bought over a lovely pavlova she made....

Re: How do you clean your oxidation spots?

For prevention, I use tsubaki/camellia oil since I already had a big bottle of it for my kitchen knives and I have had excellent results with it. Great stuff, fixall ... always have a bottle handy! It doesn’t go rancid and it’s lovely on your skin. A bit like coconut oil but lighter and without a f...

Ladybug just zipped through ~50 linear feet of cardboard. :) https://i.imgur.com/7vAV0Y0.jpg Peace, that’s pretty cool! The little SE, HB is likely the most underrated yet handiest little knife on the planet. It’s all I’ve carried in many months now and never found it lacking. Petite as it is, for ...

Re: Interesting fish

Also the Animal Planet show of days past that was called River Monsters with Jeremy Wade had a show on those big salamanders of Japan. Great series, Joe! I don’t watch much TV but I watched the entire series and the repeat some time later. Jeremy Wade is a very determined fisherman to say the least...

Re: Interesting fish

Wonder how it tastes battered and deep fried?? As I understand it they're basically a Wrasse, Jim. So they'd eat up pretty good I reckon but we're spoiled for quality table fish here and generally speaking we'd consider Wrasse bicatch and put them back unharmed. :) Old mate dragged it up on the roc...

Hi Jim,

I’m pretty sure it’s a Thalassoma Purpureum, one of our many vividly coloured reef fish. :)

Mate, I was looking to write something flowery but suffice to say I think you’re an asset to our little community and can only echo Killer’s words.

Hope you’re around for some time yet. :)
