Re: Sharpmaker?

Irrespective of how you use the SharpMaker, technique etc. I’ve always found the concept of using the corners of the stones to sharpen anything other than SE’s and tight recurves a bizarre and puzzling concept. For example, I if all you had was a triangular file to sharpen a PE blade, would you use...

Katanka the beast You have a thread you want cut Yes; I have a knife. Hey Col, You’re quite a poet mate. What’s shaking down your way? We got a bit of rain here this last week and the last couple of days there’s actually a little shade of blue in the sky. :) In the flat country near the Murr...

Re: Manbug VG-10: accidental real-world corrosion test!

Glad you found your Bug, Zulu. :)

I thought I lost my little Ladybug (again) last week and tonight, I’m hoping I left it in my overalls at work because it’s not here and I’m not overly happy.

Re: Sharpmaker?

Thanks! You explained it perfectly anyway, just for Non-English-Native-Speakers "keep the blade tangent to the stone" might be harder to understand than "follow the curve of the edge"... :) Yes, the language barrier! All the members here express themselves so well I forget not everyone speaks Engli...

Re: Family friendly jokes

Sounds like a perfectly planned through trip... when shall we meet at SFO (San Francisco Airport) and head off to the MUCH more important SFO (Spyderco factory outlet)? :D Ah, Gernot, beloved wife’s mother has been unwell for many years now and a few years back she (wife) gave up her job to look af...

Re: Sharpmaker?

Alex (Bloke), I hope you don´t mind me trying to explain that once more for those REALLY new to the matter. No mate! Not in the slightest! :) The spirit of our Forum is to help one another by passing on what little knowledge or experience we may have. I nearly chucked my SharpMaker out the kitchen ...

"turtle"... "my shell" - ?! ;) Ah, hahaha! Thanks, Gernot! If I ever visit the US I’ll shout you a trip too. I reckon an interpreter will likely come in handy, ay? Ah, hahaha! :) Man, a trip to the US with you would be great! (Sure we´d visit SFO too!) :) But I have to say: "An Au...

Re: Sharpmaker?

It's hard to get full contact on the flats. I checked yesterday on the flats only a small portion is in contact with the blade. This means also that you have unsharpened spots. Maybe with more strokes you can equal that out. I don’t quite follow what you’re describing. All I can think is you’re not...

Re: Province - First Impressions.

Had a campfire at my buddies house. Decided to baton one of the bigger first pieces of wood to open it up because the outside of it was damp. The province did just fine. No edge damage. Took longer to scrub off the sap on the blade than to baton through the wood. How are you guys storing yours? I h...

Aiyah! Hahahaha! I was a little slow, not understanding turtle Michelle. I was starting to worry, Doc. ;) :) We don’t have that or perhaps I’m too old :D Ah, hahaha! None of us are getting any younger Doc, so don’t worry too much. :) https://i.postimg.cc/kgRnbph8/C0375080-4608-41-BD-BBE9-BAB6-DC72-...

Re: LUM China Folder Hardware

Hi Bloke, the large Lum Chinese folders use the standard 3-hole screw pattern of the Delica, Endura, etc. You can just swap a silver one right on! Given that standard hole pattern, aftermarket clips (Lynch, MXG Gear) also fit the large ones just fine. :) Many Thanks, Spyder! The black clip l...

Re: LUM China Folder Hardware

Not familiar with the titanium version, but if it uses the same clip as the almite coated aluminum ones shown below, there are going to be few, if any, other models that used it. Swapping screws, with the possible exception of clip screws, between models will also be problematic. http://www.paulber...

Re: Family friendly jokes

A bloke turns up uninvited to a fancy dress party, butt naked, piggy backing an equally naked woman. The host is both amused and curious and asks, “What you two dressed as?” Ole mate replies, “I’m a turtle and that’s Michelle”. :) Definitely did not get that one on the first read. Then I remembered...
