Re: What is your favorite/most used lock type?

Having no compression or ball bearing locks yet, I don't how I will like them. I absolutely adore the axis lock, so I think I'll like the ball bearing lock. My most used, however is the lockback delica and endura, but they aren't as smooth as other mechanisms. I have liner locks and frame locks, but...

Re: Why does Spyderco allow this?

I wonder if the size of the hole is a specific trademark feature, or if it's mere existence is the important detail. It's funny, though, that that round hole is why I bought a mini griptilian after loving my first delica so much, but really preferring the axis lock. If only Spyderco made a delica or...

Re: Yo2 Sprint (s90v) mod

Also in the process of modding a Breeden Rescue Interested to see your version, as I modified my Rescue this past summer. I like the handle, so I only reground the spine of the blade. Sorry that the lighting sucks, but here are the pics: http://i600.photobucket.com/albums/tt82/toldi_miklos/blades/E...

Re: Who else has never had a "sheeple" moment?

I was most surprised at a negative response from some shipmates when on a submarine deployment in 2008. It was steak night, but being on a sub, we got some really tough, grissly, "unfit for prison consumption" kind of meat. Wanting to speed up the process, I pulled out a little Benchmade 4...

Re: So what's your favorite steel?

I appreciate that you gentlemen aren't using explicit language in our family-friendly forums, but it would be great if this argument (not quite family-friendly) were to be over or taken elsewhere. There is no reason to get rude and offensive the way you two have been. If you have further name-callin...

Re: So what's your favorite steel?

Z-wear is my favorite so far, so I can safely say I like CPM Cruwear. I like CPM 4V and HAP40, which are just about in the same ballpark as CPM M4, so I dare say that I like CPM M4. I just got my first ZDP-189 the other day and have been quite smitten by its performance so far. I eagerly look forwar...

ZDP Dragonfly for the first time and by itself today. Is 2" of blade sufficient? I shall endeavor to find out.

Re: Forum Guidelines

It did disappear Deacon due to the change in format. Stickies and Announcements are coded differently. It's something I need to recreate. I've got it on my list and hopefully I'll be able to correct that issue within the next week or so. ;) Has this happened yet? I've noticed some very rude comment...

Re: soak a whole knife in vinegar?

Disassembly is likely not difficult, so if you don't depend on warranties, that's the wisest way to pursue a patina. If you don't want to disassemble, dipping in vinegar may not be a problem for the amount of time it takes to patina M4. I would loosen the pivot and degrease the inside as thoroughly ...

Re: Caly Hap40 Sprint in Forest Green

What is HAP40 comparable to? I've tried the Caly 3 in VG10 and ZDP189 so far, really liked the ZDP189 version. HAP40 is a high speed steel, analogous to M3:2 with added cobalt. In the knife world, CPM M4 is the closest thing to it, with CPM M4 having zero cobalt and a bit better edge retention. Tha...

Re: Whats in your EDC rotation?

My selection of Spydies feels meager next to everyone else's, but they serve me well: HAP40 Endura VG10 Delica beat up original S30V Native With regard to the rotation, it's usually two of the above OR one of the above in a RFP or RRP alongside one of 3 homemade 2.5" belt knives (O1, Z-wear, 4V...

Re: History behind the Native?

I ran across a site that goes into some detail about the natives' history. It doesn't refer to the naming of it, unfortunately. That I haven't found written anywhere yet. Also, I don't know how factual it is, but it doesn't look made up.

Doubt my setup is going to change until the Police 4 comes out. http://i.sli.mg/aRAOmr.jpg Well, I might buy plain edged Tasman Salt actually. Been looking for a PE Spyderhawk in black but they're **** near impossible to find these days. Attila, have you ever tried regular old sandpaper? I keep a s...

Re: Biggest Spyderco regret of 2016

Not being a Spyderco nut until late in 2016... I've owned a Delica since 2007, but never got bit bad enough to notice the exclusives and sprint runs. Shame on me. I (luckily) got a HAP40 Endura for my b-day in December 2015, but didn't realize that I should also grab a HAP40 Delica or be on the look...

Re: Sal what are the longterm Caly plans?

Who has the caly 3 up for pre order? I would like to get in line. I pre-ordered from Knifecenter, and I thought I saw one other retailer permitting pre-orders but don't recall which. $128.97 is how much I signed up for. https://www.knifecenter.com/item/SP113GPGR/spyderco-c113gpgr-caly-3-folding-kni...
