Re: Holes in the Spydie range?

I think those "interesting locking mechanisms" are a lot more expensive to manufacture than people seem to think. We all want cheap, high quality knives made from premium material, loaded with bells and whistles and manufactured in the country where we live. That doesn't make it possible....

Re: Holes in the Spydie range?

I'd say that interesting locking mechanisms like compression, CBBL, etc. in the $50-$100 range would be s great area to expand. Keeping blades 2"-3" might make it feasible even if S30V, XHP, etc. are used.

C41 Native. S30V, broken tip, reground spine, and loose from years of hard use before I learned to take better care of my knives.

Re: Reinhold Rhino Update

This definitely puts the Rhino solidly on my desired list, but I wish it were regular G10 to ideally keep it less than $100. Regardless, it's exciting to have such a locking mechanism in a fed-facility-legal knife. In light of this development, I'm now hoping for a CBBL with a 2.4-2.5" blade of...

Re: What Spyderco is in your pocket today??

Deep carry wire clip on Manix 2 LW?! Do share... I made both of those clips myself out of 1/16" stainless welding filler rod and pliers. I made one months ago for the DF2 because it tore up my pocket by being too stiff. The 308L stainless is less strong, and conveniently doesn't get magnetized...

Re: What Spyderco is in your pocket today??

My brand new and first Manix 2 arrived yesterday, and I've paired that S110V with some ZDP. http://i600.photobucket.com/albums/tt82/toldi_miklos/blades/304C318F-AB02-4A93-B4BF-55395480968B_zpsxcm1oamx.jpg I am really liking the CBBL, as I expected, but it is quite a large knife! I would really like ...

Re: Definite purchases out of the new releases?

Caly3 in HAP40 and a Para 3 sprint/exclusive when they come out.

If the lil nilakka were less $$ or had more wear resistant steel, I'd get one of them.

Would you say that's like finishing sharpening/touching up with spyderco medium stone?

Thanks

Re: Name the spyderco you can't pull trigger on

Manix 2 LW in S110V for fear of the wife as well. Well, I did warn her that I want to buy one sometime this year, so I might be able to get away with it sooner rather than later... The Cruwear CF Manix 2 exclusive, M390 PM2 exclusive, and a Chaparral (in that order) I can't convince myself of becaus...

HAP40 Endura and ZDP Dragonfly.

I look forward to picking up an S110V Manix soonish, which will likely supplant the Endura.

Though does it have to be black? I could see this guy in a nice white or off-white. I'd totally be into that!
Agreed! I vote ivory.

It's not a common color in knives, and this may be a good place to start using it.

Re: More Cruwear?

I've been enamored with Z-wear, the ZAPP iteration of CPM Cruwear, for a while now, and I'd like to see more as well. Not only would I like to see more used, I'd like it to be run at higher hardnesses than the standard 59 HRC that VG-10 and S30V are typically available in. Of course, I don't know wh...

Re: BladeHQ M4 Military - Natural G10

It looks great and is tempting, but I don't like liner/frame locks, and I unfortunately don't have much opportunity to actually carry something that big anyway.

So, no, I can't justify it. I know I'm in the minority, and that just allows one more lucky person to get one.

Re: DF2 blade play question

Araneae, Yeah, I'm still working with the mk1 mechanic's eyeball ;) , so my measurement is an educated estimation. The movement I was trying to describe was discovered as vertical movement with the lock engaged. However, my subsequent "test" was with the knife open, lock disengaged, and pu...

Re: DF2 blade play question

I already did that, but it feels like the pivot tolerance is just loose enough to be noticeable regardless of pivot screw tightness. I just tried moving the blade perpendicular to the pivot axis (parallel to blade) with the blade extended and lock disengaged, and I definitely feel pivot tolerances a...
