Re: CTS-XHP: wondering about differences between brands.

Thanks for the detailed response. I understand that there will be differences in material properties depending on heat treatment schedules, but XHP should be as tough as any of the other very high alloy stainless steels at a given hardness. For example, I wouldn'...

CTS-XHP: wondering about differences between brands.
Hello everyone! I was curious if anyone has done a comparison of the current CTS-XHP offerings of Spyderco and Cold Steel. The only pertinent data I've found so far was in Ankerson's rope cutting test: http://www.bladeforums.com/threads/ranking-of-steels-in-categories-based-on-edge-retention-cutting...

Re: 5 Spydercos I have never regretted buying
I currently only have 4 that I don't regret: C41 Native, HAP40 Endura, ZDP Dragonfly, S110V Manix LW I do mildly regret a Delica 4 and a Breeden Rescue. They're both fine knives, but I don't like the VG10 or locking mechanisms (the Delica refuses to stay smooth consistently, and I don't trust liner ...

Re: Anyone else surprised RFP carry is so common?
Ever since getting my Manix LW, I've been noticing how RFP isn't as convenient or comfortable with large knives.
For me, the rear pocket, carpenter pant pocket, or 1 o'clock IWB are preferable.

Re: What steel is used for the non-blade steel parts of spydies?
I'm also curious about this, but specifically with regard to the Salt line of folders.
Has anyone looked inside their H-1 bladed knives after some time in salty environments? Did the spring or lock bar show signs of corrosion?
Thanks

Re: MAXAMET VS. GIRLY STEELS
Thanks bear, and nice talking to you. :) I've never handled S110V, so if it doesn't fall far from 90, no point in getting it just to find out I should've tried MAXAMET. By the way, I just checked the composition for 90 and 110, only to discover that they're the same steel as far as vanadium content...

Re: Would You Send This In To Warranty?
My S110V Manix has a remarkably similar gap, as if the one side mold was slightly larger than the other side and the bigger one got ever-so slightly warped upon riveting.
I chose not to send mine back as I use my knives and it doesn't hurt function.
As others have said, it's irritating.

Any updates? Hi Attila, The last I spoke with Eric, they were in the process of getting things started in Taichung. I'm hoping to talk with Eric at the Blade Show in a few weeks, so maybe we'll get a little update. :) Take care, Michael Thanks Micheal! I look forward to potential post-Blade Show up...

Ooo! Chapparral forum knife is a great idea!Doc Dan wrote:This would make a great forum knife, wouldn't it? It could be in a color only available to forum members. I am okay with the steel, but some exotic steel choice along with the special color would be nice.

We need more steels more than we need more colors, in my opinion.

Re: Color Poll for the Chaparral Light Weight
Couldn't there be more than one color?
I was just thinking that the 2 or 3 top voted colors could be all made sort of how the delica/endura series has multiple colors.

Re: Everyone needs a steel they struggle to get sharp
I haven't tackled any S110V. I guess ceramic is out (?), and it has to be diamond all the way? Reason I asked is there're discussion on the V carbides tear out over BF, and a member (ekretz?) showed microscopic images of them. That's interesting to hear. Do you have a link to that discussion?
