Re: C-60 Ayoob Campaign: No I Won't Shut Up

Re-use the screws that came with the knife for the clip exchange. They are slightly smaller than the lynch screws or the standard screws from other spyderco knives it seems. Yep, thanks. Screw gauge confirmed this . . . after I had snapped the standard Spyderco clip screw I tried earlier. My fault,...

Re: C-60 Ayoob Campaign: No I Won't Shut Up

Mine arrived yesterday. Really liked it in hand, and action was a little stiff but reasonably smooth for a backlock knife out of the box. But then things went south when I ineptly tried to replace the spoon clip with a deep carry Lynch clip I had lying around. Rather than using the stock Phillips sc...

Re: Rebuilding your collection from scratch

My current Spydercos, and whether I'd replace them and how. I'd actually probably prioritize the sharpening stuff I use from Spyderco more than the folders themselves. Dragonfly 2 (HAP40) -- definitely, but probably K390, and might do the wharnie blade SpydieChef -- definitely Native Chief (REX45 an...

Re: What is the first Spyderco you'd replace?

Dragonfly 2. Not my favorite Spyderco, but the one design that I have never found a substitute for, from any maker. Just perfectly fits its role as a little big knife that punches way above its weight class. (That said, mine is a HAP40 and I'd probably replace it with a K390 if I had a clean slate....

I left that browser window open and saw it down to 5 left so lost my self-control—inbound. Sigh. Either this one or the Rex45 will have to move on, I guess

If I didn’t have a REX45 NC I would have been all over this . . . but have been refreshing the counter anyway, and the temptation grows as it drags on. Get thee behind me FOMO!

Re: What’s your best made Spydie?

Another vote for the Chef -- mine is incredibly smooth, rock-solid lockup, modest shake closes it, centering perfect--built like a tank with almost no maintenance. Takes and holds an outstanding edge. It just feels incredibly solid in every way. Interesting to see mentions of the Southard here. I lo...

Re: Opinions Wanted: Top 5 Best Spydercos

#1 Spydiechef. One knife for all EDC applications, this would be it for me. Gets carried more than all my other Spydies combined, probably. #2 Dragonfly2 (mine is HAP40; my wife's is ZDP). Ingenious little knife. I've never found another small knife that comes close. #3 Southard. Kind of surprised t...

Re: Popularity of DLC and Black Washed Finishes

It was a little light bulb moment for me as I suddenly realized the effectiveness of DLC/BW blades to help keep knives discreet. I have had the black-on-black DLC PM2 for several years as a camp and work folder. Just liked the look of the DLC more, contrary to my usual bias against tactical/operato...

Re: Dragonfly appreciation thread

This thread just sold another DFly Salt -- I've had it saved to a shopping cart for eons, and this pushed me over the edge. It will go with my HAP40 and my wife's ZDP-189. Genius design!

Re: Folding Camp Knife Suggestions

Sort of surprised at all the recommendations of non-stainless for a camp knife to be used in double duty with primary use for food prep as well as secondary for fishing, etc. Just seems like added hassle to keep the blade protected in a food-safe way in camp when there are good stainless options ava...

Re: I love my Southard but:

I got mine second-hand and at first it was terrible--would fail to flip over half the time. It was bad enough that I sent it in to Spyderco after my own attempts at tinkering with it failed to improve it in any way. Turned out that the bearing washers had basically been crushed by overtightening the...

Re: OK, it's time to get serious

No plans at this time for an Endura warnie, we'll have to see what happens with the Delica. I believe we have plans to make a HAP 40 version of the Delica warnie. sal Now that's serious! Sal is the most serious man in the world! :) Sigh - had successfully talked myself out of the VG-10 wharnie (&qu...

FYI, these are back in stock in sandwashed finish in the short/PM2 configuration. Nice to see he's making them again, apparently.

Re: BEST DISCO ??

Another Caly 3/3.5 vote here. My Caly 3.5 ZDP is one of those knives that will never fall out of my rotation, even as others come and go.

I'd pay a foolish amount for either one of these in HAP40.

Re: Which spyderco is in the mail?

Delica ZDP-189. Weirdly enough, had a dozen or so Spydercos over the years (light compared to many/most here, I know), but have never gotten around to owning a Delica. Looking forward to seeing the legend in action. Next up: hoping to try this "vanilla" ice cream flavor that I hear so many...

Re: 5 years 1 knife, what would you choose?

PM2, probably. It's actually only my third most-carried Spyderco, seeing less overall pocket time than either my Caly 3.5 or my HAP40 dragonfly, but is easily the most versatile knife I own, so if I only get just one . . .
