I'm thinking of getting one , any care and feeding thoughts ? I have an SM , several Japanese water stones + a lapping plate , and a bevy of strops . One of my strops is a hanging strop , the others are paddle type . Anyone think ultrafine rods used in the grooves on the Sharpmaker's base would work...

I would vote for the 8 , I also luv the mini 7's , tho I keep selling or trading them .

Correct me if I'm wrong but Inova is US made , and has models in the OP's price range . They are a tad bit conservative but well done .

Many Sandi's do have secondary micro bevels , especially if they are used for ruffhousing like dressing big game . Quys who strop their Scandi's are doing a de facto micro convex .

How many of you bad asses also carry a SAK. What percentage of your real world cutting does it end up doing?

Are SAKs traditional slipjoints? The genera goes back to the ninteenth century. The knives are pretty rich in tradition. If so Im seldom without a traditional blade an use them about 99% of the time.

Generally as long as a casual wrist snap won't do it you are OK. Tighten em a bit to be on the safe side. Western Canada is usually pretty laid back, I would be more worried in Tpronto or Montreal. Depends a lot on how you got the officers attention.

Bout the only trouble ya can get into other than saying SD , is if the blade can be readily flicked open . Anything that can be opened by centrifugal force (moreproperly inertia ) is a prohibited weapon. I keep my pivots tight , an make a point of not doing public Spyder drop demos.
