IMO, "excessive force" is shooting him four times in the head when a triple tap would suffice. Beyond that, **** 'em. They're inmates for a reason.

Glad you made it out OK. That's all that matters.

Nicky, opening methods are the only thing that'll screw you with folding knives. Blade type and shape don't matter so long as there's no metal loop (as seen on karambits), and it's not a push dagger.

(Edited for clarity.)

With any folding knife it's a total crapshoot because the border gestapo fail to realize that any knife is an inertia knife if you flick it hard enough. I say if you're going to order something that expensive, have a friend in the States loctite the blade closed first.

What on earth is that thing, and what's it supposed to be used for? Five inches is a whole lot of handle for not a lot of blade.

I'm not sure the name of this method, and I know I'm not the only one who does it, but for me, the fastest way to draw a tip down knife (in this case, my Harpy), is to place my thumb and forefinger over the Spyderhole, then pull up and back. I guess it's kinda like an inertial drop method, but I don...

Eric, ASPs and other extendable batons are illegal. Check this link.

Serrator: I could be mistaken, but I don't believe it's possible for the pigs to check every incoming package, hence, some get through, and some don't.

Yeah, they decided to destroy mine, too. Thankfully it was just a POS Gil Hibben Claw (I thought it looked cool). What pisses me off infinitely more is that they've probably impounded my Kershaw Talon on account of being a "flick" knife. Granted, I have no evidence to back that up, other t...

Heh, I think it's pretty much a universal truth that the law treats you like a criminal, regardless of anything you have done, because of something you may do if you were a total ****in' idiot.

In all honesty, I'd actually prefer having to get a permit to import knives if it meant I could legally import and carry whatever I wanted to.

I fail to see what sort of incentive they now have to help you with your problems when you've stated that you will never again buy another Spyderco product.

For best results, be civil, and be patient. No one likes a ***, and chances are *pretty* good that they're not trying to be evasive.

I live in Canada. We can't carry guns. ****, we can barely carry knives thanks to the asinine vagaries we have that almost resemble respectable laws. <img src="sad.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>

A.T.R.: Worth it?

Now, I'm not trying to piss anyone off, but is the A.T.R. as good as the price necessarily demands? It looks quite intriguing (love the blade design and the idea of an integral compression lock), but for 200 bucks one could get a very decent custom folder. Does anyone have any exposure to it? I'd lo...
