Re: Damasteel UK Penknife UKPK - DAMASTEEL PATTERN

Regarding etch appearance - this is something that is pretty easy to change by the end line user. The dark areas of a damasteel etch will rub off with Flitz or other polish, leading to a much more muted contrast. As for me, I prefer a tangible difference with a much deeper etch that I can feel with...

Re: Automony 2 Rusted

Interested to see what the culprit on this model is. I know there's some ongoing CQI on the salt models. Maybe dlc on the lock slide?

Re: Damasteel UK Penknife UKPK - DAMASTEEL PATTERN

As someone who bought damasteel recently, damacore (DC18N) is definitely more expensive than the normal stuff.

First choice - Bjorkman's twist
Second choice - Baldur
Please no - vinland

That's why you can carry two! One for primary use, one for "fun".

Re: HOW exactly do you experience, differenciate and evaluate different steels?

Unless we're running heavily controlled tests, our end line use is all about finding the best steels for our purposes. The variation in purposes and technique and handling and sharpening makes recommendations from one user to the other an apples to oranges comparison at best. That's okay, though. It...

Re: Swayback Lookout Thread

It's been very interesting to see the enthusiast response to this knife. In many ways there's a lot of pent up demand for contoured Slysz designs ever since the Bowie got hyped up towards the end of its life. A lot of that demand never got a chance to actually handle or own a Bowie, so the Swayback ...

Man, I'd be down for a sprint run of these! Maybe with some larger (knife-capable) clamps? I could see this being a display of choice for at least 3 knives.... :D

ATR2 thoughts and modding

Hi folks, Recently got an ATR2. It had always been on my radar due to 1) Spyderco bringing it back, 2) its similarities to the Para military series, and 3) that dang cobra hood! The ergos are very similar to a PM2 and the default blade shape is also clearly related. The biggest design milestones hav...

Re: Damascus UK Penknife UKPK

Thor is a fairly coarse pattern, and I can't say I've put enough miles on my 40th anniversary native to show any visible difference in wear. Something like a dense twist might perform better when it comes to edge behavior/microserrations.

Re: Maybe small knives are not TOTALLY awful

I keep a hawkbill Dfly salt in pocket at all times. It's seen a lot of use, and it tanks a bunch of the adhesive and gunk of package opening.
