Re: Slipit as a base for testing new steels

One requirement that you are perhaps not thinking of is that in order to get a new steel to test, besides sometimes begging, we have to purchase a minimum quantity. Usually 1,000 to 2,000 lbs. That would be an awful lot of UK's or Urbans to try to move with an experimental steel. sal With that in mi...

Re: Slipit as a base for testing new steels

I definitely enjoyed the Urban LW (k390), but I'd agree that the Golden-made current UKPK is a superior platform. It's big enough to apply some force with the knife and it has much better action.

I really enjoy the current boxes. Nothing overdone, still elegant.

Re: Knifejoy Exclusive Para Military 2

Been lurking in this thread more than participating, but we saw similar discussions around the CruCarta Shaman release. One thing that hasn't been mentioned in the overall marketing/supply/demand discussion is perceived value due to scarcity. It's a flaw in human psychology that we aren't happiest w...

Re: DLC and rust.

I've noticed that surface roughness plays a huge role in relative rust resistance even on supposedly stainless steels. Bead blasting, for instance, seems to be absolutely terrible and can cause normally stainless steels to rust in mildly humid conditions.

Re: Ikuchi

Also, relative finger strength skews detent preferences on flippers a bunch - with flippers you're relying on a biological "spring" in your finger tendons, and that's a variable that can change day to day based on previous loads, repetitive motions, irritations, arthritis, etc. I've used flippers fo...

Re: H-1 is subpar???

^^ couldn't have said it better!

My experience with H1 has solely been serrated, but I'd be hard pressed to not carry my Dfly2 hawkbill salt everywhere I can. It's the smallest chainsaw I own!

Integrity means doing the right thing, even when nobody is watching... And that means doing the right thing for the community, the crew, and the customer.

Not many know. But those who do, choose Spyderco. :)
