Re: What makes S90V so special?

I find that S90 and S110v excel at holding an edge through material that would absolutely dull other steels with lower carbide fractions. Stuff like carpet, fiberglass and refractory insulation, etc.

Re: 2020 Spyderco Forum Calendar Contest!

After several attempts, I finally got a successful hi-resolution upload.

I think my issue was attempting to upload a .png image, not a jpg. I usually default to .png to avoid compression. Just a heads-up.

Re: 2020 Spyderco Forum Calendar Contest!

^ This is why I haven't decided on my submission yet. I'm just a guy with a phone camera, so I consider myself lucky to have won last year. This year, I haven't come up with anything that I'd call a winner. :( Your photo was unbelievable last year. This will be my second year entering, and as someo...

Re: How about a titanium compression frame lock?

maybe the best way to go about it would be construction similar to the Para 3 LW - solid Ti scales, steel lockbar?

I am guessing that within the next couple of years we will see so many different Shaman 'Exclusives' that most people will be tired of it. Kinda like the 800 runs of the Para 3.
I'm here for it! :D :D

Re: Mantra 3 vs Sliverax which one to get?

Depends on hand size. The mantra is the best fit for small hands, while I'd suggest the amalgam is the best option for XL hands. The sliverax is a good in between.

It's a great knife, I hope they hit soon. Definitely destined to be a collector's piece and useful to boot!

Re: 2020 Spyderco Forum Calendar Contest!

Also, I've uploaded the full size image, but once the page submits, I get a blank page, not any confirmation. I seem to remember it taking a while for the page to change over once I submitted my image. Yeah, I think it uploaded, but the page I landed on was blank. Still had a calendar related spyde...

Re: 2020 Spyderco Forum Calendar Contest!

This year's entry features one of Spyderco's newest collaborative models, the Ikuchi. I've been carrying mine this summer due to its light weight, pocket friendly design, and absolutely fluid lines. It's perfect for small cutting tasks. While outside pruning some plants, I happened to spot a large b...

Re: How about a titanium compression frame lock?

I would be completely against it UNLESS there was a steel lockbar insert. A direct titanium/steel lock interface can and will wear out, I've had it happen to me.

Re: Upcoming Shaman Exclusives??

yeah, at this point I'm at the 'try before you buy' stage for tough non-stainless. Bare Cruwear has proven itself to be impervious to my pocket conditions where M4 would pit and rust, and even DLC-coated M4 had visible spotting on the DLC. From all reports, 4V is even more sensitive than M4. I may t...

Re: Upcoming Shaman Exclusives??

I have no idea how 4v will like salt air or sweat, even with dlc coating. That said, I'm trying to track down a paysan so that might preclude the 4v shaman anyway.

Or wait for the cruwear sprint, that'll be a real workhorse!
Knowing my patience theres a very high probability I'll end up with both lol!
Yeah, I'm busy trying to line up custom scales in several different micarta 'flavors' just for the cruwear sprints. I need my OD green canvas!

Re: Shaman Questions

https://i.imgur.com/b6pQHmu.jpg Got the Shaman a few days ago and have been giving it some use since to get a feel... and I can say its definitely a badass tool first and foremost. I always found the Native to be a little tank of a knife because it's fairly indestructible for what it is but the Sha...
