Re: When your first RIT dye job goes bad....

FYI, RIT makes s Synthetic dye. Wonder if it would work better on FRN scales?
If I were to dye my yellow Dragonfly Salt with blue RIT, would it turn blue or would it turn green? Is it like mixing paint or does the dye cover the original color?

Re: Compression Lock vs Liner Lock

The first time I handled a compression lock, I thought it was the most intuitive and versatile lock I ever experienced. I can open it by pinching the lock and let the blade fall by gravity, middle finger flicking, thumb, or grabbing by the Spyder Hole and flicking the handle out. Many times I grab t...

Re: Para 3 Lefty?

An ambidextrous release, a la Smock Knives, would solve the problem of making two different knives.

Re: Some pics of the new SALT 2 (Yellow SE)

Any possible way to post a pic of the skeletonized scales that seem to be causing anguish? You speaking of the Salt 2 scales? I'll be happy to dissemble and post pics if people want it. I have no need for myself but I have no problem doing so if other people would like to see it. I think you can ge...

Re: China > Golden ?

I think a vast majority of the public would balk at buying a $50 knife, no matter where produced. Comparing that to a knife that costs three times as much is only natural. I personally will not buy a Tenacious. I do, however, own a Raven 2. That is the upper limit for a Chinese knife for me. If I we...

Re: Anyone else surprised RFP carry is so common?

At work I wear Wrangler cargo pants 2 sizes larger. In fact, all my pants are. I like to be able to crouch or kneel with my pants staying in place. The volume of the hand pockets is incredible. Let alone the cargo pockets. Off work outside of the house I will carry Glock 30 at 4 o'clock position, be...

Re: Anyone carry a PM2 that wears a suit?

Like Evil said, a leather sheath would be the way to go. Even if you took your jacket off, it shouldn't be a big deal. At least not in Texas. Or if you wanted something a touch smaller, the Para 3 is the way to go. Same G10 issue though. I'm sure someone has made a sheath for it by now.

Re: Would You Send This In To Warranty?

I have the translucent blue model. It has a gap that I can stick the corner of a sheet of paper in. Didn't notice that until reading this thread. I knew the back spacer was a bit uneven. Other than that, it's smooth and centered. Now I have to worry about magnetized blades, gaps in spine and ...

Re: Best price/service

I always buy from National Knives. I discovered National Knives while I was in pre-order purgatory with another company for the Para 3. Have ordered twice from them and my next new purchase will be from them. I do, however, muck the bottom of eBay for good used deals for models with no counterfeits...

Re: Byrd Raven or Pole Star: Which one?

I have the Raven 2. I like choils. I think the Polestar was in response to the Raven 2 jumping the Value Folders in terms of steel and quality. I just find the Raven 2 more appealing. I think the comet shaped hole really complements the shape of the knife. I also put a deep carry clip for being the ...

Re: Clip removal

On my Manix 2 LW, the T8 fits the pivot screw. The T9 absolutely will not fit. On the Pac Salt, T9 barely fits but I wouldn't put any torque on it for fear of damaging it. I'm no expert, and I don't disassemble the knives. I just change clips and adjust tightness. In fact, I dislike Torx. Fully pinn...

Re: Clip removal

A quick tip : Test fit a couple of different sizes before applying torque. For example, the PM2 supposedly has T8 size scale screws. My Wiha T9 fits perfectly, the T8 probably would have stripped the screw...
