My FIRST choice would be the McBee. Love that little guy with the 1.5" locking blade.

Re: Spyderco shopping on Amazon - experiences
I've purchased 25+ Spydercos from Amazon over the years (especially before MAP, which started in 2016) and through their third-party dealers. The only issue I ever had is that I ordered a Native 5, and got a Native 4. I returned it. The same thing happened again and eventually I got the right knife ...

Re: How many is too many?
After you buy enough of a wide range of Spydies, you might narrow it down to a couple of features/sizes you really like. And that could focus what you buy next. Maybe.

Re: Huge?
In an office environment, I pulled out a Dragonfly to open an envelope and a co-worker said, "Wow, that's a HUGE knife!" So yes, it's all relative. I think the fact that most Spydies are taller contributes to the perception. Personally, the PM2 is about as large I need, and I might pair it...

Great choice with the Native 5! I wouldn't worry about steel as much if you have a few knives in your rotation and you aren't doing anything too crazy with them.

Re: "If you could only keep 5" Countdown
Balancing utility, practicality and beauty/appreciation, it's tough to find the right mix.
No. 5 goes, then No. 4, etc., with No. 1 being my final, best do-it-all:
5. PM2, C81GPDBL2
4. UKPK, C94PDBL
3. Dragonfly2, C28PYL2
2. Caly 3, C113CFPD
1. Chap, C152PGY

Re: Old school/new school
I'd probably bite. I like the thinness of the FRN on the UKPK but would might try micarta. Steels don't matter as much to me with the S110V version in my rotation.

REI's website features only the base model Delica 4 and Tenacious. But there is a 20% off one-item deal if you are an REI member; the member coupon code is on the site, but you may have to login. It's good through 3/29/21.

Yes! The Caly is a comfortable and classy workhorse and feels like classic Spyderco to me. It also feels like a bigger brother to the Chap.
I have two back-ups of model C113CFPE that are intended as gifts when I find the right giftee.

You're right. It's a thin round piece of protective film. Mine hasn't come off despite some pocket time.Peacedivision wrote: ↑Mon Feb 08, 2021 4:25 pmIt's not a sticker, just there to protect the wood during shipping, there is no adhesive.

Re: MAPLE CHAP SHIPPING TO DEALERS WOO HOO
I noticed that my maple chap has a small clear sticker on the scale where the curve of the clip meets the scale--roughly in the middle of the scale. I don't think they wood will crack there, but I suppose the clip could abrade the finish or wood under a lot of use. No worries for me, I bought it to ...

Re: Could use some help deciding between lil native comp lock and frn chaparral
Another vote for the Chap.
The lil' Native never really worked for me, as I think the blade is too small to work well with the compression lock. It's also overly thick IMHO.
The Chap is also very much lighter and thinner than the Sage and takes up much less pocket real estate.

Wow! That is a beauty! My only Worker is the VG-10 sprint run from a few years ago, and even that looks "tactical" in comparison. Nice find.

See https://knifeworks.com/spyderco-c94pbk- ... rn-handle/ for an example of a UKPK in CTS-BD1.
The blade has lettering/markings on both sides. I have the knife in blue FRN with the same steel, and it has the same markings.
