Re: Harpy vs Civilian

I couldn't agree more. For the last 5 years or more I have paired a PE with an SE in my daily carry. I rotate them out, some more frequently than others, but usually the SE is a Tasman, Spyderhawk, or Lil Matriarch. The latter being the most utilitarian, and in a way, I feel is still viable self ...

Re: Stupid question time…

There was a guy, I think he had a UK Penknife and he posted the same picture in an EDC thread everyday forever. I think it was the Spyderco Facebook group.

People lost their minds.

When I used to frequent everydaycarry.com, there would be the few people who would post the exact same items all ...

Great scores on all the discs and signatures, Nick!

Looks like you got to interact with some legends.

ETA: I appreciate all the pics and rundown.

Nothing, on my person. Unless camping. I keep a Wave attached to a backpack that goes in the car.

I’ll 3rd Osprey, and 2nd REI.

I also have a couple of Kletterwerks by Mystery Ranch, pre- Yeti buying the company. Build quality and materials on mine are top notch. You can find some MR models on sale in your price range, depending on color choice and if you don’t mind buying a model that’s ...

Re: Let's play "Would You Rather"

The main reason I wouldn’t go high end production is because I would want something like this:

viewtopic.php?t=87087

But then I wouldn’t want your average Joe to just be able to go buy one off the shelf.

Re: Advice on tipping etiquette please

Both the wife and I have waited tables in the past, and most of that was with an hourly wage of $2.13. We expected good, bad, and ugly gratuities, and we saw all that and more.

Haven’t read any responses so far I would disagree with. We tend to overdo it on tipping, but we know plenty of people ...

KnifeWorks is in Columbia. 4 hours away by car…

As far as other tips, I prefer Cafe Du Monde over Cafe Beignet.

Re: Post your oldest "What's in your pocket?" image

You got me going down the WikiHole, vivi. Currently looking at the Goodyear Airdock… The interior of that thing is INSANE.

My oldest pocket dump photo with a Spyderco would have been one for everydaycarry.com, but all of mine vanished when they changed the format. That pic would have also had a ...

Re: Boye dent

I think the more informative video might be one of you using a knife “for real” in one of those useful death grips you demonstrated, and use it for a knife-related task so we can all hear it rattle while in use.

I thought the grip in the video looked a little more modified saber than hammer, but if that’s the way OP is using it then the point remains valid.

My favorite aspect of the dent is it’s yet another example of Spyderco doing the right thing, and giving credit where credit’s due.

Serrated Kris = mind blown…

I also always had an eye for the Captain. Just never pulled the trigger when the price was reasonable and they were readily available.

Kinda the same thing with the Warrior and Pygmy. Knivesplus has one of each in the Boss’s Collection now, but man they’re steep.

A good plain look ti pen. Black jack/ sap.

During covid, these door opener/ button pusher things became popular. I found a couple heavy brass ones that make great kubatons. And you can claim to be a germaphobe :rofl . I've got a G-10 one from Black Triangle that will pass metal detectors too. I ...

Restaurant I worked in used these:

They worked pretty well, but I’m not a big fan of uni-taskers.
