I appreciate all the input and advice.
A question concerning the Spyderco Sharpmaker...what makes it better than the Lansky Diamond Ceramic 4 Rod Turn Box that I currently have (other than the fact it's made my Spyderco)?
Thanks again for all your help.

Any 'Pull Through' Sharpeners worth a Darn?
In my 40 years of carrying a knife, I'm sad to say I've never learned how to properly sharpen a knife. I have tried several times (even tried the stone my father used) but seldom get a very sharp edge and/or else one side has a different angle compared to the other. I have a Lansky Diamond Ceramic 4...

Re: Byrd Robin 2 Upgrade?
For those who aren't already fairly well versed in sharpening ZDP can be a challenge, the Sharpmaker is a really good way to get good results from a challenging steel... for those with an old Arkansas stone, some Norton bench stones (fine India excepted) or even worse a carbide pull-sharpener ZDP-1...

The DF2 with the ZDP-189 only comes in a dark green color and is about $20 more...is that correct?
Thanks for the input!

Byrd Robin 2 Upgrade?
Have been carrying a Byrd Robin 2 for a while now and unfortunately have either lost it or it was stolen :( I really loved everything about it...size, blade length, ease of opening, locking blade, ease of carrying, etc. I thought about ordering another one but now that I know it's the perfect size a...

I'd spurge for the orange. It's actually less threatening somehow in safety orange than even the black. And if its your favorite color, you might like it more! The ZDP green is VERY dark, and tasteful IMO. ZDP189 Dark Green, HAP40 Orange, H1 Yellow, VG10 Orange https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1719/2...

Re: Robin 2 to Dragonfly 2?
They are both absolutely fantastic as small EDC knives. The Chaparral is less a "working" knife, as it was intended as a gents folder, but mine is a user and it does plenty of work just fine. The DF2 is going to be better with gloves or in a wet situation, as the CF scales on the Chaparra...

Pic comparing Dragonfly, Chicago, Cat, & Chaparral?
Crazy question I know, but can anyone post a single picture with all four of these knives (Dragonfly, Chicago, Cat, Chaparral) together? I'm looking to upgrade from my Robin II, stay in that 3" to 3.7" closed range size, and would like to see these all together so I can see the true size d...

Robin 2 to Dragonfly 2?
I currently EDC the Byrd Robin 2 and love everything about it...perfect size, sharp, great weight, good balance when using it, easy to open, great size opened and closed. It seems like the Dragonfly 2 is the 'official' Spyderco version of the Robin 2....true? Is it worth the $45 to move from the Rob...

Hi 10SBUM, A new model that came out a couple of weeks ago. sal Thanks....I appreciate the information. Any idea how slick that stainless steel handle would be? Robin 2 in Black Blade?
Currently carrying a Robin 2 FRN as my (favorite) EDC. I noticed a version with a black blade here http://www.bladehq.com/item--Byrd-Robin-2-Lockback-Knife--34308 , but do not see this version anywhere other than this website...not even on the Spyderco Byrd website. Is this a new model that just isn...

Re: Here's my wants - What's My Knife?
For me, the Chap is definitely easier to open than the DF. The opening hole on the Chap is bigger and since the handle on the DF is smaller, it is more difficult to get a good grip for one handed opening. The Chap and the Cat are almost identical in closed length and width, but the Cat is a little ...

Re: Here's my wants - What's My Knife?
Thanks for the pics....they are a great help! It appears that the Chaparral is actually more narrow (not width of spine, but in the first set of pics going from the top of the knife, down across the handle, and then down past the hole to the other side) when closed than the Dragonfly...is this the ...

Re: Here's my wants - What's My Knife?
I would go with a dragonfly. For a small knife it's really comfortable in the hand. Also the wire clip is pretty discreet. Which version? I see quite a few different options when I type in Dragonfly at online shops. Many colors, most with the VG10 blade for around $50, but then there's a 'foliage g...
