Just got my monthly email from tactical elements. They have some rare Spydies.
Two Spot neck knives, two vintage clip it Delicas, a gunting trainer, and a salsa with a collector # (why I didn't get it).
Have at it https://www.tacticalelements.com/spyderco-knives/

Re: Dragonfly vs. Lil' Native
I don't know why but the chap has never appealed to me. Where as I've got 10 Dragonflys and 4 lil natives. Visually I find the Dragonfly a more appealing design than the chap. I always liked it even before I owned any Spyderco's. It looks interesting to me, the chap seems kind of plain. Refined and ...

Re: Anyone else have rusting issues on their H2 knives?
A rarity with the salts. I kept a Tasman Salt in my shower for almost a year. Worse it got was some hard water scaling.

Re: Dragonfly vs. Lil' Native
Thanks for the analysis so far. Would there be less distinction between the FRN D'fly and the Lil' Native LW? Because I'm leaning in the direction of an FRN LW model of one or the other. In which case, the D'fly K390 FRN has 2.3" long blade, 2.5mm thick, 1.2 oz. The Lil' N LW will have a 2.4&q...

Re: Dragonfly vs. Lil' Native
The obvious difference is heavy duty vs. lightweight and slicey. Backlock vs. Compression (though there is a BL lil native). I grab the Dragonfly when I need an ultralight folding scalpel, Lil Native when I need a workhorse that's going to see a lot of use beyond opening packages during the day. Dra...

Re: Military 2 Discussion (Merged)
I just noticed the Micarta kinda smells like a burnt clutch or electrical fire I don't know that I've ever noticed that on my other Micarta knives.

Re: It's About Time For: A Full SE Catcherman
Going a bit off tangent, but I'd really like for Spyderco to make a remolded ambidextrous handle before making another Catcherman run. I hoped they had updated the handle for the new release but didn't happen. Right there with you. But the $$$$ involved in remaking an FRN mold is what keeps that fr...

Re: It's About Time For: A Full SE Catcherman
It's about time for a plain edge high edge retention steel hawkbill!
But, I wouldn't mind a full SE Catcherman. I'd use the heck out of it in the kitchen.

Re: Military 2 Discussion (Merged)
I knew when I saw this in the reveal, it would be my first Military. The Milie 1 didn't appeal because of lock type and clip placement. When they announced the M2 with the compression lock and 4 way clip, I knew I wanted one, but wanted something special. Saw the Crucarta and knew that was the one. ...

Re: Sharpening a double edged blade point
I should add to what I said above, start with the fine stone to know for sure where you are removing metal. Once you're comfortable where you are doing so, switch to the coarser stones to speed up the process.

Re: Tax day MAP sale!
Seems to be where you live (or the people who are delivering in your area). I had a string of problems until I moved to a different part of SD. I used to pay extra for shipping because my packages wouldn't arrive otherwise. Haven't had a problem since I moved.

Re: Sharpening a double edged blade point
If sharpmaker is all you have start with fine stones. Mark the edge with sharpie. And slicing cheese style without much slicing. Just try to go straight up and down (a little back and forth) just on the damaged area near the tip. And look at exactly where you are removing material. Adjust as necessa...

Re: Tri-Angle™ Stones Cubic Boron Nitride or Tri-Angle™ Stones Diamond?
I have diamond and CBN, don't notice much difference. I have heard anecdotally that the CBN has a more uniform size because they are artificially made. And that makes sense. But I've never measured it or noticed a big difference. If I grabbed the wrong one, I wouldn't notice.

Re: The Edge Is A Ghost?
If you can't understand 'move it to off topic' not much hope of explaining the rest to you. Nothing to say that hasn't been said. Either I'm not capable of explaining it, or you're not capable of understanding it. I know which way I'm leaning on that🤣 Either way I'm done talking to you about it. Mov...

Re: The Edge Is A Ghost?
I think you are the one who is confused. I feel like you keep shouting A Minute Is A Minute. Yes, I hear you, we agree. What you are missing is the act of dividing '1' into infinite parts can continue forever. A minute, mile, a square. Again write out ALL of the smaller increments of '1'. .9, .999, ...

Re: The Edge Is A Ghost?
Here's a more interesting problem: You have a closed PM2 in your hand. After 1/2 a minute you flick it open. 1/4 a minute later you close it. 1/8 a minute after that you flick it open. You repeat this process until 1 minute total has passed. At that time will the knife be open or closed? You would ...

Re: The Edge Is A Ghost?
I explained it pretty clearly. And you didn't satisfactorily refute it in my opinion. Your answers just dance around it. We both agree we've reached the end of a productive discussion on this topic. Thank you again for the effort, I hope no hard feelings regardless of disagreement. -Matt *I hope at ...
